Supported Applications
The Omega MFR012 series is a mechanical hygrostat designed to control relative air humidity inside enclosures. The device activates heaters (de-humidifiers) or cooling fans at set humidity levels to prevent condensation and corrosion. Documented applications include electrical and electronic enclosures, telecommunication systems, display panels, ticket dispensers, ATM machines, and access/parking control systems.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The MFR012 operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F) with a storage temperature capability from -20 to 80°C (-4 to 176°F). The adjustment range covers 35 to 95% relative humidity, and the series supports measurement up to 100% RH. Switching difference (hysteresis) is approximately 4% RH @ 50% relative humidity. Permissible air velocity is rated at 50 ft/sec (15 m/s). The unit carries an enclosure rating of NEMA 2 (IP20).
Electrical Switching Specifications
- Contact Type: Change-over contact (SPDT)
- Maximum Switching Voltage: 250 Vac
- Minimum Switching Capacity: 100 mA @ AC/DC 20 V
- Maximum Switching Capacity: 5 A @ AC 230 V (resistive load); 1.0 A @ AC 230 V (inductive load at cos j = 0.8); DC 20 W
- Contact Resistance: <10 mOhm
- Service Life: 100,000 cycles
Note: The critical relative humidity for most components is documented as 65%. Above 65% RH, condensation can cause malfunction of electronic equipment. Additionally, attention is required that 250 V should only be switched in a non-condensing environment.
Compliance
The series meets EMI/EMC compliance standards EN 55014-1-2, EN 61000-3-2, and EN 61000-3-3.
Configuration Options
The MFR012 series is configured for DIN rail mounting via a clip for 35 mm (1.4") DIN rail per standard EN 50022. Electrical connection utilizes a 3-pole terminal accepting up to 3 x AWG 14 max [2.5 mm² (0.1 in²)]. The unit is powered by a supply range of 20 Vdc to 230 Vac.
Physical Characteristics
- Dimensions: 67 H x 50 W x 38 mm D (2.64 x 1.97 x 1.5")
- Weight: 60 g (2 oz)
Key Product Differences
The series is represented by the model number MFR01201220000, described as a mechanical humidity control with SPDT output, covering 35 to 100% RH and operating on 20 Vdc to 230 Vac. The general model numbering format follows MFR012 - <MODEL NUMBER>.

Will the MFR0122 work to de-humidify ( turn on a make up air unit ) a wand-wash car wash bay? Do the contacts close on humidity rise? and switch on 24VAC?
Thank you for your inquiry. This product is designed to be installed in an enclosure to monitor the relative air humidity and control an electric heater to dehumidify the air within enclosure. It cannot be installed outdoors or in a location with direct exposure to water.
