Supported Applications
The Omega LCGD Series consists of miniature, low-profile compression load cells designed for high stability and reliability in severe industrial environments. These bonded foil strain gage units are engineered to measure compressive force only. The series includes an integral machined load button and is intended for mounting on a flat surface with a diameter at least equal to the D1 dimension specified for each capacity.
These load cells provide 5-point NIST-traceable calibration data upon delivery. They are compatible with specific digital panel meters, including the DPiS, DP41-S, and DP25B-S series.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LCGD Series operates within a compensated temperature range of 60°F to 160°F (16°C to 71°C). The broader operating process temperature range is -65° to 250°F (-54° to 121°C). Performance specifications include:
- Linearity: ±0.25% FSO (BFSL)
- Hysteresis: ±0.20% FSO
- Repeatability: ±0.10% FSO
- Zero Balance: ±2%
- Safe Overload: 150% of full scale
The electrical bridge resistance is a minimum of 350 Ω foil strain gage. The nominal signal output is 2 mV/V, with an excitation voltage requirement of 10 Vdc. Temperature effects are specified as ±0.009% FSO/°C for zero and ±0.018% READING/°C for span.
Configuration Options
The series is available in both standard (lb) and metric (N) capacities, covering a range from 25 lb to 50,000 lb and 100 N to 200,000 N. All units feature an all-stainless steel construction with an IP65 enclosure rating.
Key configuration parameters include:
- Load Ranges (Standard): 25 lb, 50 lb, 100 lb, 250 lb, 500 lb, 1K, 2K, 5K, 10K, 15K, 20K, 30K, and 50K.
- Load Ranges (Metric): 100N through 200KN in various increments including 1KN, 2KN, 5KN, 10KN, 20KN, 50KN, 60KN, 80KN, and 120KN.
- Electrical Connection: Includes a 1.5 m (5') shielded cable with pigtail end.
- Cable Color Code: +EXC (RED), +SIG (WHITE), -SIG (GREEN), -EXC (BLACK).
Dimensions vary by capacity, affecting the D1 diameter required for proper mounting. For example, 25 to 100 lb models require a #4-40 UNC thread and have a D1 of 1.00 inch (25 mm), while 50,000 lb models utilize a #6-32 UNC thread with a D1 of 3.00 inches (76 mm).
Key Product Differences
The series is divided into two primary model families based on the unit of measurement:
- LCGD Series: Standard models rated in pounds (lb). Model numbers follow the format LCGD-<CAPACITY>, such as LCGD-5K for a 5,000 lb capacity.
- LCMGD Series: Metric models rated in Newtons (N). Model numbers follow the format LCMGD-<CAPACITY>N, such as LCMGD-10KN for a 10,000 N capacity.
Both families share identical performance characteristics and construction materials. The primary distinction lies in the load range designation and corresponding physical dimensions (D1, D2, H, L) which scale with the rated capacity to maintain structural integrity under compression loads up to 50,000 lb or 200,000 N.

I need to extend the cable on a LCGD-1K to about 30ft. Accuracy of signal is not all that critical, I just need the DP32PT-330-C24 to be able to close a dry contact (auto door) when it senses a human standing an 8ft entry ramp (maybe a 20 lb delta)
It will depend on a few things, mainly how accurate you need it to be, how many calibration points you are using and whether it is a 4 or 6 wire. If you are going across a really long distance then you may want to look into using a signal conditioner to change it from a bridge output to a current output or even to digital.
Best practice is to put a conditioner basically next to your load cell and send a 4-20ma or other current signal from there. Then you're good for like a quarter mile.
While 10-15ft is nominal for load cell cable length, 30 ft might be pushing it a bit. You could still get away with it but you may see erratic/fluctuation reading and signal will be noisy.

I have a load cell cable length of 3 meters, if I increase this cable length by 4 times, will there be a lot of fluctuation in my sensitivity values ? What can you suggest to solve the problem in this case ? Thanks for help.
You can experience signal lose and/or noise in the signal due to external electrical interference. A typical solution is to keep the cable length short and use a strain gage bridge signal condition to convert the load cells millivolt signal to either a 4 to 20mADC or a 0 to 10VDC signal. Suggest you look at products like our IN-UVI or TXDIN1600S conditioners.

Can you recommned a 5 or 6 digital meter to work with it ? We want to use it to calibrate 1KN~15KN device.

Hello, can you answer my questions ? We have the omega lcgb 2k load cell. What is the difference between using a shield when connecting and not using it. Thank for help.
The shield is used to dampen the effect of external electrical noise. If used it should be connected to an earth ground. The load cell will function with or without the shield connected.

Is it ok to apply 15V excitation voltage instead of 10V to this LCGD/LCMGD Series?
Applying a higher voltage will result in excessive heat generation and thermal drift in readings. It would be best to apply the max voltage that is listed on the spec sheet or cal cert.

Unless you adding a significant amount of cable there would be a minimal effect on the mV/V sensitivity load cell.

Using the shield connect is not absolutely necessary to the correct operation of the load cell. All that is necessary the connect of the excitation power to the read & black leads and measurement of the signal at the green & white leads. If you are experiencing interference of the signal caused by external electrical noise you can connect the shield lead to an earth ground
