Supported Applications

The ACI CO2-010-D Series consists of duct-mounted carbon dioxide (CO2) transmitters designed for installation in HVAC return air ducts. These sensors monitor CO2 concentration using Single Beam/Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) Absorption technology within a gold-plated reflective light pipe or waveguide diffusion gas chamber.

Documented applications include large office buildings, schools/gymnasiums, and shopping malls where the sensor monitors air quality in industrial and office environments. The series is not recommended for use in greenhouses, wineries, breweries, or any application with industrial sources of CO2 present.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The transmitters operate within an ambient temperature range of 0°C to 50°C (32°F to 122°F) and a humidity rating of 0 to 95% relative humidity, non-condensing. Storage conditions are specified as -40°C to 70°C (-40°F to 158°F). The measurement range is factory calibrated for 0-2000 PPM.

Performance specifications include an accuracy of ±40 ppm +3% of reading @ 22°C (72°F) when compared with a factory certified reference. Non-linearity is less than 1% of full scale at 22°C (72°F). The response time is three minutes typical for a 90% step change at low duct speeds, applicable to duct air velocities from 0 to 1500 ft/min (0 to 450 meter/min).

Environmental dependencies include temperature dependence of 0.2% of full scale per °C and pressure dependence of 0.13% of reading per mm of mercury. Stability is less than 2% of full scale over the life of the sensor, with a typical lifetime exceeding 15 years.

Configuration Options

The series supports configurable probe lengths and output signals tailored for duct installations. A gas permeable PTFE filter prevents particulate and water contamination of the sensor element.

  • Housing & Dimensions: The unit features a grey (GY6275) housing with UL94-5VA enclosure rating. Probe lengths are available as 4.09 in (10.38 cm) for model T8041 and 8.07 in (20.51 cm) for model T8042, both with a probe diameter of 1.24 in (3.15 cm). The junction box measures 3.05 in x 3.05 in (7.46 cm x 7.46 cm) with a depth of 1.58 in (4.02 cm).
  • Electrical & Output: Power supply requirements are 18 to 30 VAC RMS, 50/60 Hz or 18 to 42 VDC, polarity protected. The CO2 output signal is 0 to 10 VDC with a 100 ohm output impedance (representing 0 to 2000 ppm CO2). Temperature monitoring includes Digital RS-232 communication w/UIP Software and a 20K NTC Thermistor.
  • Calibration & Logic: Sensors are calibrated at zero and span at the factory. The series features patented ABC Logic™ software for self-correction of drift to better than ±20 ppm per year, eliminating field calibration requirements during unoccupied periods (minimum 4 hours).

Key Product Differences

The CO2-010 Series includes distinct configurations based on installation location. The Duct configuration (A/CO2-010-D) is designed for HVAC return air ducts and does not include LED indication. In contrast, the Room configuration offers optional three-color LED indicators for CO2 level status but exhibits different accuracy specifications of ±75 ppm @ 72°F (22°C). The Duct model specifically utilizes a probe design with PTFE filtration suitable for high-velocity air streams up to 1500 ft/min.
