Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series WE35 is a full-port, 3-way brass ball valve designed for gas or liquid flow control. The series supports quick bubble-tight shut-off and mixing or diverting applications using compatible liquids and gases. Direct-mounted actuators create a compact assembly suitable for tight spaces.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series WE35 valve body is rated to 600 psi (41 bar) WOG with process temperature limits of -20 to 425°F (-30 to 220°C). Wetted materials include brass for the body, ball, and stem; PTFE for seats, seals, and packing. The valve features a blowout-proof stem and reinforced PTFE seats.
Actuator operating conditions vary by type:
- Pneumatic Actuators (DA/SR Series): Ambient temperature limits are -40 to 176°F (-40 to 80°C). Normal supply pressure is 40 to 115 psi (2.7 to 7.9 bar) for double-acting models and 80 psi (5.5 bar) for spring-return models, with a maximum of 120 psi (8.6 bar).
- Electric Actuators (TD/MD Series): Ambient temperature limits are -22 to 140°F (-30 to 60°C). Enclosure rating is NEMA 4X (IP67).
- Explosion-Proof Electric Actuators (TI/MI Series): Designed for hazardous locations Class I, Group C & D; Class II, Group E, F & G; Division I & II. Ambient temperature limits are -40 to 140°F (-40 to 60°C). Enclosure rating is NEMA 7.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable actuation methods, line sizes from 1/2" to 2", and female NPT end connections. Selection options include:
- Actuator Types: Hand operated; Pneumatic double-acting (DA) or spring-return (SR); Electric two-position (TD/TI series) or modulating (MD/MI series).
- Electric Control Signals: Two-position actuators use supply voltage to drive the valve open or closed. Modulating actuators accept a 4-20 mA input for valve positioning.
- Voltage Options: Electric models support 110 VAC, 220 VAC, 24 VAC, and 24 VDC (MD models not available in 24 VDC).
- Housing Materials: Pneumatic actuators feature anodized aluminum bodies with epoxy-coated end caps. Electric actuators use powder-coated aluminum.
Standard and optional features include manual override, position indicators, limit switches (standard on TD models), solenoid valves, air filter regulators, position transmitters, and positioners. Pneumatic accessories mount to the NAMUR standard.
Key Product Differences
The Series WE35 distinguishes between actuator families based on power source and environmental rating:
- Pneumatic DA vs. SR: Double-acting (DA) models use air supply to drive the valve open and closed via two ports. Spring-return (SR) models use air to open the valve, with internally loaded springs returning it to the closed position.
- Electric TD/MD vs. TI/MI: The "TD" and "MD" series are weatherproof (NEMA 4X/IP67). The "TI" and "MI" series are explosion-proof (NEMA 7) for hazardous locations.
- Cycle Times (per 90°): TD01 models cycle in 4 s; MD01 in 10 s; TD02 in 20 s. Cycle times for TI/MI series are listed as "See instruction manual" in the source data.
