Supported Applications
The Series ISDP Intrinsically Safe Differential Pressure Transmitter by Dwyer is designed for measuring differential pressure in air and non-corrosive gases within hazardous (classified) locations. The transmitter provides a robust solution for monitoring pressures or air flows where intrinsic safety certifications are required.
- Hazardous Locations: Class I Div 1 Groups A, B, C, D; Class II Div 1 Groups E, F, G; and Class III Div 1
- Zone Applications: Zone 0 (Ex ia IIC T4)
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series ISDP delivers ±0.5% accuracy at 77°F (25°C) including hysteresis and repeatability, following a one-hour warm-up period. The device operates within an ambient temperature range of 32 to 140°F (0 to 60°C), with process temperatures rated from 32 to 161.6°F (0 to 72°C). It features a response time of 250 ms when dampening is set to 1.
- Power Supply: 10-35 VDC
- Output Signal: 4-20 mA DC
- Load Resistance: Maximum 1250 Ω (calculated as RL MAX = (Vps - 10.0) / 20 mA DC)
- Enclosure Rating: NEMA Type 4X (IP66)
Pressure Ranges and Ratings
The series supports a wide envelope of differential pressure ranges, including unidirectional spans from 0 to 100 in w.c. and bi-directional models up to ±10 in w.c., as well as a metric option for 0-500 Pa. Overpressure ratings vary by range: Ranges ≤ 2.5 in w.c. are rated at 2 psi; ranges from 5 to 50 in w.c. are rated at 5 psi; and the 100 in w.c. range is rated at 9 psi.
Wetted Materials
- Ranges 5 in w.c. and greater: glass, PVC, silicon, alumina ceramic, epoxy, RTV, gold, aluminum, stainless steel, and nickel
- Ranges 1 in w.c. and lower: stainless steel, silicone, gold, and ceramic
Configuration Options
The Series ISDP is configurable across multiple measurement ranges to suit specific process requirements. The transmitter features a large LCD display that can be programmed via an integral menu system.
Display Programming Options
- Select security level and engineering units (English or Metric)
- Configure operation for pressure, velocity, or flow
- Input K-factor for use with various Pitot tubes and flow sensors
- Define circular or rectangular duct size for volumetric flow calculations
Note: Menus are unavailable for bi-directional ranges and ranges above 25 in. w.c.
Housing and Connections
- Housing Material: Aluminum with glass components
- Electrical Connection: M12 4-pin connector (female on the device side per manual, male integral connection noted for power loop)
- Process Connection: 1/8" female NPT fittings
Certifications and Approvals
The unit is FM Approved according to requirements of FM 3600:2018, FM 3610:2018, FM 3810:2018, ANSI/ISA 60079-0:2009, ANSI/ISA 60079-11:2009, and ANSI/ISA 61010-1:2004. It also carries CE marking compliant with CENELEC EN 61326/55024: 2003; IEC 61000-4-2/3/4/6: 2001/2006/2004/2005; and CENELEC EN 55011: 2006.
