Supported Applications

The Omega RAT-QD series comprises Quick Disconnect High-Temperature Platinum Thermocouple Assemblies featuring ceramic protection tubes. These probes are designed for temperature measurement in oxidizing or reducing atmospheres up to 1650°C (3000°F). The assemblies utilize Type R, S, or B platinum thermocouples enclosed within a high-purity alumina protection tube.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series is rated for process temperatures up to 1650°C (3000°F). Elements are insulated by a double bore high purity hard-fired alumina insulator. The standard probe diameter is ¼" with a standard insertion length of 12" and an overall length of 12"; the support tube length for standard configurations is 4". NIST Traceable Calibration is available as an option.

Sensor Configurations

  • Thermocouple Calibrations: Pt vs Pt 13% Rh (Type R), Pt vs Pt 10% Rh (Type S), and Pt 6% Rh vs Pt 30% Rh (Type B).
  • Wire Sizes: Available in 24 AWG or 30 AWG.

Housing & Connection Options

  • Connector Types: NHX Standard Ceramic Connector and HSTW Standard Connector Liquid Crystal Polymer. For standard ceramic connector models, replace "HSTW-M" in the model number with "NHX-M".
  • Mating Accessories: Mating connectors (e.g., HSTW-R/S-F, NHX-R/S-f), cable clamps (PCLM, PCLM-NHX), and safety clips (SFCL, HTCL) are sold separately.

Structural Variants & Options

  • Support Tube Assembly: Models with a stainless steel support tube include an optional compression fitting allowing field positioning setting of the immersion length. These models feature "ST4" in the model number (e.g., RAT-QD-ST4).
  • Mounting Threads: Optional compression fittings are available with ¼ mounting thread (SSLK-38-14) or ¾ mounting thread (SSLK-38-38).
  • Dual Element: Dual element configurations are offered.
  • Customization: Custom probe lengths and custom support tube lengths are available. Wire Batch certificate reports can be added by appending the suffix "CERT" to the model number (consult sales for pricing).

  • Standard Probes: Models such as RAT-QD-30-12-HSTW-M feature a high-purity aluminum (alumina) protection tube without an integral stainless steel support structure for field positioning. The standard insertion length is 12".
  • Support Tube Assemblies: Models designated with "ST4" in the model number, such as RAT-QD-ST4-30-12-HSTW-M, include a stainless steel support tube and an optional compression fitting. This configuration allows for field positioning setting of the immersion length.
  • Dual Element: Specific variants, indicated by the "-DUAL" suffix (e.g., SAT-QD-30-24-HSTW-M-DUAL), provide dual element sensing capability.
