Supported Applications

The Omega TSW Series consists of adjustable temperature switches designed for economical solutions to temperature control. The series utilizes a limit-filled, saturated vapor sensor where gas expansion within the sealed stainless steel stem mechanically actuates a Form "C" relay via an internal membrane. These probes are engineered with a 9.7 mm (0.38 in) diameter specifically to mate with Omega's standard 385 Series thermowells for rugged applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The TSW series covers a measurement range of -43 to 266°C (-45 to 510°F), segmented into specific model ranges from -49 to 23°F up to 392 to 509°F. Contact repeatability varies by temperature band, ranging from ±0.7 (±1.3) °C/°F for lower-temperature models to ±1.3 (±2.4) °C/°F at the upper end of the scale.

Performance limits include an ambient temperature range for the switch body of -55 to 105°C (-67 to 221°F). The maximum system pressure is rated at 68.9 bar @ 425°C (1000 psi @ 798°F), with a corresponding max capillary temperature of 425°C (797°F). The switches are vibration resistant and must not exceed a cycle rate of 20 cycles per minute.

Electrical Ratings

  • 1 A Gold Contacts: Rated for TTI and dry contact closures at 115 Vac/28 Vdc.
  • 5 A Silver Contacts: Designed for larger electrical loads, rated at 250 Vac/28 Vdc.

Wiring Configuration

The unit features a 3-wire pigtail connection furnished 300 mm (12") long with #20 AWG wire insulated in PVC, rated for 300V. The standard color code is Black = Common, White = Normally Open, and Red = Normally Closed.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable contact ratings (1 A or 5 A) across nine distinct temperature ranges identified by model numbers TSW-11 through TSW-95. The probe construction includes a 316 SS wetted sensor element, while non-wetted components include a 303 SS body and indicator, with zinc alloy chromate finish lock rings and switch housings.

Key Product Differences

Variants are distinguished by their specific temperature range and contact rating. Models ending in "1" (e.g., TSW-41) provide 1 A gold contacts, while models ending in "5" (e.g., TSW-45) offer 5 A silver contacts for the same temperature span.

Available accessories include stainless steel and brass thermowells (3/4-385S-U21/2 series) as well as compression fittings (SSLK-38-12 Stainless Steel, BRLK-38-12 Brass). The standard probe overall length is 171.5 mm (6.75 in), and the unit weighs 113 g (0.25 lb).
