Supported Applications
The iSD-TC is a web-based temperature monitoring system that watches two independent thermocouple channels over an Ethernet network or the Internet using nothing more than a web browser — no special software required. A built-in web server, virtual chart recorder, and large LCD let users view real-time readings, configure settings, and retrieve data locally or remotely.
It is designed for critical environments such as computer server rooms, clean rooms, laboratories, and warehouses, where continuous temperature assurance and fast alerting matter. Alarming is flexible: the unit provides email alarms, text messages to cell phones and PDAs, and drives flashing lights and a siren for local alarms, plus two 1.5 Amp output relays for alarm contacts. Data can be recorded to an SD card for later analysis in the iLog Excel application.
Each unit comes complete with an operator's manual, a 2 GB SD flash memory card, two relay alarms, battery back-up, a universal (100 to 240 Vac) power adaptor, and two Type K thermocouples. These products are not designed for and should not be used in human applications.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The iSD-TC accepts a wide range of thermocouple types and reports readings at a resolution of 1°/0.1°. It connects through a 10/100 BASE-T RJ-45 Ethernet port and is powered from 9 to 12 Vdc via a safety-qualified AC power adaptor (100 to 240 Vac, 50/60 Hz, 9 Vdc @ 0.5 A).
Physical and environmental specifications include:
- Housing: SS 304 case with wall-mount bracket
- Dimensions: 130.2 mm (5.13 in) x 88.1 mm (3.47 in) x 33.3 mm (1.31 in)
- Weight: 462 g (1.02 lbs), with battery
- Operating temperature: 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F)
- Storage temperature: -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F)
The device is CE and FCC-B marked, with an optional NIST-traceable calibration certificate available.
Configuration Options
The iSD-TC's flexibility comes from the breadth of thermocouple types it supports, each spanning a different measuring range with its own accuracy. Representative type ranges include:
- Type J (Iron-Constantan): -210 to 760°C (-346 to 1400°F), 0.4°C (0.7°F)
- Type K (CHROMEGA®-ALOMEGA®): -160 to 1372°C (-256 to 2502°F), 0.4°C (0.7°F)
- Type T (Copper-Constantan): -190 to 400°C (-310 to 752°F), 0.4°C (0.7°F)
- Type E (CHROMEGA®-Constantan): -220 to 1000°C (-364 to 1832°F), 0.4°C (0.7°F)
- Type C (W/5%Re - W/26%Re): 0 to 2320°C (32 to 4208°F), 0.4°C (0.7°F)
High-temperature noble-metal types extend the range even further — for example Type R and Type S reach up to 1768°C (3214°F) at 0.5°C (0.9°F), and Type B covers 600 to 1820°C (1112 to 3308°F). Beyond the thermocouple choice, the series is further differentiated by its factory calibration option, which pre-configures a NIST-traceable certificate for a specific thermocouple type.
Key Product Differences
The series consists of the base monitor plus factory-calibrated variants:
- iSD-TC — Monitor for dual thermocouple input
- ISD-TC-CAL-3J — iSD-TC supplied with CAL-3J, Type J NIST-traceable calibration
- ISD-TC-CAL-3K — iSD-TC supplied with CAL-3K, Type K NIST-traceable calibration
The NIST-traceable calibration certificate (CAL-3*) provides three temperature points for each input on new units; the calibration type can be specified as J, K, T, E, R, S, B, C, N, or L to match the thermocouple in use.
