Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series 1000W is a weatherproof diaphragm-operated pressure switch designed for chemical, petroleum, food and drug processing, and industrial applications. The control operates via a negative-rate Belleville spring-augmented diaphragm mechanism to provide consistent switching action in demanding environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports adjustable operating ranges from 5-40 psig (0.34 - 2.76 bar) up to 200-1400 psig (13.78 - 96.46 bar). Each range features a fixed approximate deadband, varying by model: Range No. 3 offers 2 psig (0.14 bar), while higher ranges increase incrementally to 75 psig (5.17 bar) for the 200-1400 psig span. The maximum pressure without bursting is rated at 3000 psig (206.7 bar). Temperature limits are specified as -30 to 170°F (-35 to 77°C), with a maximum case ambient temperature of 170° F (76.7° C).

When configured for steam service, the series requires a pigtail siphon and Type 3 (FEP) diaphragm. The enclosure is weatherproof and meets NEMA 4X standards.

Configuration Options

The Series 1000W offers configurable wetted materials, process connections, electrical ratings, and housing options to accommodate specific installation needs:

• Pressure Chambers & Diaphragms: Available with an aluminum pressure chamber paired with a polyimide diaphragm, or a 316 SS pressure chamber with an FEP diaphragm. Note that deadband is approximately 10% larger when using the 316 SS diaphragm.
• Process Connection: Standard connection is 1/4" female NPT.
• Electrical Connections & Conduit: Features screw-type wiring connections with a 3/4" female NPT conduit entry. Mounting orientation can be any position.
• Switch Action & Ratings: Equipped with an SPDT snap switch. Electrical ratings include 15A @ 125 VAC, 15A @ 250 VAC (Code J), and up to 1/4 HP at AC 350 V depending on the specific code configuration.
• Set Point Adjustment: Internal thumbwheel adjustment allows for precise set point selection within the fixed range of each model.

Key Product Differences

The series is distinguished by two primary material configurations and seven distinct pressure ranges, identified by specific model codes. The aluminum/polyimide configuration uses models such as 1003W-A1-D through 1009W-A1-D. The stainless steel/FEP configuration corresponds to models like 1003W-B2-D (noted in ordering instructions) or the B-series equivalents listed in model charts.

Model numbers follow a pattern indicating the pressure chamber and diaphragm type followed by the adjustable operating range code. For example, 1003W-A1-D represents the aluminum/polyimide version for the 5 to 40 psi (.48 to 2.8 bar) range with a fixed deadband of 2 psig (.14). The series carries UL Listed approval.
