Supported Applications

The Omega M12-TC-SL series consists of spring-loaded thermocouple sensors designed for use in standard bore thermowells. These probes feature an adjustable self-gripping spring mechanism that allows the sensor to maintain contact with the bottom of a thermowell, accommodating variations in stem length or enabling installation in shorter-length wells than the probe's full extension.

Key application characteristics include:

• Fits all standard 0.260" (6.6 mm) bore thermowells
• Probe length is selected to match the specific thermowell stem length requirement
• Designed for easy wiring with Omega M12 Thermocouple Extension Cables via compensated pins

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series utilizes Type J, K, T, and E thermocouples housed in a 304 stainless steel sheath. Sensor temperature ranges vary by thermocouple type as documented:

• JSS: -210 to 721°C
• KSS: -270 to 899°C
• TSS: -270 to 371°C
• ESS: -270 to 899°C

The M12 connector has a maximum temperature rating of 85°C (185°F). The sensor diameter is fixed at 0.260" (6.6 mm), and the wetted material is 304 stainless steel. A note in the specification indicates that while these ranges apply to the sensor, thermowell selection will impact the final temperature range of the assembly.

Configuration Options

The M12-TC-SL series offers configurable stem lengths and dual-element options to meet specific installation needs. The model number format is M12(*)-U-<LENGTH>-SL, where the length code corresponds to inches (e.g., 0600 for 6").

Thermocouple Types and Sheath Materials

• Type J with 304 SS sheath (JSS)
• Type K with 304 SS sheath (KSS)
• Type T with 304 SS sheath (TSS)
• Type E with 304 SS sheath (ESS)

Stem Lengths

Standard stem lengths available in the series include:

• 2.50"
• 4", 6", 9", 12", 15", 18", and 24"

For probe lengths above 24", customers may change the length in the model number to the required length in inches (e.g., 25.50" = 2550) for an additional cost.

Dual Element Configuration

• Available by adding "DUAL" to the end of the model number

Connectors and Accessories

The probes feature M12 A-Coded Pin Style Connectors with compensated pins. Optional accessories sold separately include:

• M12 Thermocouple Extension Cables (e.g., M12CM-EXTP-K-SF-3, M12CM-EXTP-K-RF-3)
• Thermowells

Variants within the series are distinguished by thermocouple type (JSS, KSS, TSS, ESS), stem length code in the model number, and dual-element configuration.
