Supported Applications

The Omega M22 Series consists of panel mount signaling alarms constructed from heavy-duty industrial polycarbonate, designed for indoor or outdoor use in harsh environments. The series is UL Type 4/4X/13 and IP65 approved, providing a watertight enclosure suitable for demanding conditions. Specific models within the series address distinct operational needs: M22-30K variants feature fully enclosed housings designated for food industry applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The M22 Series operates across an ambient temperature range of -25 to 60°C (-13 to 140°F). The alarms are equipped with a plug-in three-point finger-safe terminal block rated IP2X, accepting wire sizes up to 14 AWG (2.5 mm²) and requiring a mounting nut torque of 1.7 Nm (15 in/lbs).

Electrical performance varies by size model:

• Supply Voltage Ranges: Models support 12 Vac/dc, 120 Vac, or 240 Vac inputs with specific operating ranges. For example, the 65 mm and 45 mm models accept 8 to 26 Vac/dc for low voltage operation, while the 30 mm model requires 10 to 26 Vac/dc.
• Sound Levels: Output levels at 1 m range from 65 dBA (M22-30K) up to <85 to 105 dBA for larger models. The M22-30V series produces 80 to 85 dBA, while the M22-45M and M22-65G series reach higher decibel levels.
• Frequencies: Main sound frequencies are listed as 3300 Hz for 65 mm and 45 mm models, and 3500 Hz for the 30 mm model.

Configuration Options

The series offers three physical sizes—30 mm (1.18"), 45 mm (1.77"), and 65 mm (2.56") overall diameter—all designed to mount in a standard 22.5 mm (0.88") pushbutton hole. Configuration options include tone types, voltage ratings, and sound level adjustability.

• Tone Types: All sizes support continuous or pulsing tones. The 65 mm models additionally offer an alternating "wobble" tone option via terminal configuration (La/N/Lb).
• Voltage Configurations: Available in 12 Vac/dc, 120 Vac, and 240 Vac versions.
• Housing Variants: The 30 mm size is available as M22-30K (fully enclosed for food industry) or M22-30V. Larger sizes include the M22-45M and M22-65G.
• Adjustability: Sound level adjustment is configurable on 45 mm and 65 mm models but not available on 30 mm units.

Accessories include the OMPBD7-AHA1 hole adaptor for 30 mm (1.18") holes and the OMPBD7-AW2 mounting ring wrench.

Differences across the M22 Series are defined by size, model type suffix, and resulting performance characteristics:

• M22-30K vs. M22-30V: Both share a 30 mm (1.18") diameter but differ in sound output; the K-series is rated for food industry use with fully enclosed housings and produces 65 to 70 dBA, whereas the V-series outputs 80 to 85 dBA.
• Size-Specific Features: The 30 mm models (25 g weight) do not support sound level adjustment or wobble tones. The 45 mm models (M series, 35 g weight) add sound level adjustment but lack the wobble tone. Only the 65 mm models (G series, 65 g weight) provide all three tone types: continuous, pulsing, and alternating wobble.
• Electrical Consumption: Nominal current draw varies by size and voltage; for instance, at 24 Vac/dc, the 65 mm model draws 57 mA compared to 20 mA for both 45 mm and 30 mm models.
