Supported Applications
The Omega SGT series consists of transducer quality strain gages designed for shear beam and torque applications. These sensors are engineered to measure Strain (Shear and Torsional) in single, dual, and half-bridge configurations.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series features a nominal resistance of 350 Ω across the documented models. Maximum permitted bridge energizing voltage varies by model pattern and temperature compensation material, ranging from 6 Vrms to 14 Vrms as specified in the selection tables.
- Maximum Voltage (Vrms): Values range from 6 Vrms for single gage patterns with Steel (ST) compensation up to 14 Vrms for specific half-bridge configurations with Aluminum (AL) compensation.
- Packaging: Models are supplied in packages of 5 units per order quantity.
Configuration Options
The SGT series offers configurable options for grid patterns, termination types, and temperature compensation materials to suit specific transducer designs.
- Grid Configurations: Available in single gage (e.g., SGT-1), matched shear/torsion pairs (e.g., SGT-3ES, SGT-3D), and half-bridge configurations with two reversed grids on one carrier featuring a common bridge connection.
- Termination: Models are offered with Ribbon Leads or Solder Pads depending on the specific model suffix.
- Temperature Compensation: Options include Steel (ST) and Aluminum (AL).
- Dimensions: Grid active lengths range from 1.4 mm to 3.2 mm, with matrix lengths extending up to 14.6 mm depending on the pattern.
Key Product Differences
Differences within the series are defined by model number patterns that indicate grid geometry and bridge configuration:
- Single Gages (e.g., SGT-1, SGT-2): Designed for single element shear beam or torque applications.
- Matched Pairs (e.g., SGT-3ES, SGT-3D): Provide matched shear/torsion pairs on a carrier.
- Half Bridge Gages (e.g., SGT-2DH, SGT-3H, SGT-3HB, SGT-3JS): Feature two reversed grids on one carrier with a common bridge connection for half-bridge circuit integration.
- Nomenclature: The model number follows the format SGT-<PATTERN>-<RESISTANCE>-<TEMP COMP>, where resistance is typically 350 Ω, and temperature compensation codes denote ST for Steel or AL for Aluminum.
