Supported Applications
The Omega THX-400 Series Quick Disconnect Thermistor Probes are designed for general purpose immersion, air, and penetration temperature measurements. These probes feature rugged sheaths suitable for use in gases, liquids, air, soft and semi-frozen materials, soil, and sand.
- General Purpose (GP): Immersion measurement in gases and liquids.
- Air Probe (AP): HVAC applications with a perforated tip to expose the thermistor bead to airflow.
- Penetration Probe (NP): Piercing soft and semi-frozen material, soil, and sand.
The series is intended for use with the Omega HDX handle equipped with an uncompensated OST connector and copper extension cord. Special assemblies are available upon request through Custom Engineering.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The THX-400 Series utilizes high precision 44033 thermistor elements (2252 Ω @ 25°C/75°F) with an interchangeability of 0.1°C/F.
- Temperature Range: -40 to 100°C (-40 to 212°F) for General Purpose and Penetration probes; up to 100°C (212°F) for Air Probes.
- Sheath Material: 304 stainless steel with diameters of 3.0 mm (1/8") or 4.8 mm (3/16").
- Cable Length: Standard stem length is 3 m (10').
The probes feature an OST connector for quick disconnect capability when paired with the compatible HDX handle.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable probe types and lengths to accommodate specific measurement needs. The model number format follows THX-400-<PROBE_TYPE>-<LENGTH>, where length is indicated in feet (e.g., -12 for 3 m/10').
Probe Types
- GP: General purpose immersion with a smooth sheath.
- AP: Air probe with a perforated tip feature to expose the thermistor bead to airflow, specifically for HVAC applications. Sheath diameter is 4.8 mm (3/16").
- NP: Penetration probe designed for piercing soft and semi-frozen materials, soil, and sand. Sheath diameter is 3.1 mm (1/8").
