Supported Applications

The OMEGAFLEX™ Low Density Polyethylene Tubing series is a tough, heat-resistant tubing designed for the transfer of hot liquids or gases. The product overview states it is recommended for low pressure systems and applications where higher temperatures and pressures are encountered.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports a service temperature range of -40 to 121°C (-40 to 250°F). Working pressure ratings at 70°F vary by model, ranging from 272 psi down to 52 psi depending on the specific outer diameter and wall thickness. The tubing features a nominal durometer hardness of 75 (D) Shore after 15 seconds, with a tensile strength of 3700 PSIG and an ultimate elongation of 200%. It has good compatibility to acids and alkalies.

Configuration Options

The series is available in multiple configurations defined by outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID), wall thickness, standard length, and color. Standard lengths include 100' coils; other lengths such as 50' or 500' are indicated by variant suffixes.

Dimensions and Pressure Ratings

The following dimensional combinations and working pressures at 70°F are documented in the series specification table:

  • TYPP-1418-100: ¼" OD x ⅛" ID, 1/16" wall; Working psi: 272
  • TYPP-14170-100: ¼" OD x 0.17" ID, 0.04" wall; Working psi: 149
  • TYPP-516316-100: 5/16" OD x 3/16" ID, 1/16" wall; Working psi: 196
  • TYPP-3814-100: 3/8" OD x ¼" ID, 1/16" wall; Working psi: 157
  • TYPP-1238-100: ½" OD x ⅜" ID, 1/16" wall; Working psi: 112
  • TYPP-5812-100: 5/8" OD x ½" ID, 1/16" wall; Working psi: 87
  • TYPP-3458-100: ¾" OD x ⅝" ID, 1/16" wall; Working psi: 71
  • TYPP-134-100: 1" OD x ¾" ID, 1/8" wall; Working psi: 109
  • TYPP-1141-100: 1¼" OD x 1" ID, 1/8" wall; Working psi: 87
  • TYPP-112114-100: 1½" OD x 1¼" ID, 1/8" wall; Working psi: 71
  • TYPP-2134-100: 2" OD x 1¾" ID, 1/8" wall; Working psi: 52

Material and Physical Properties

The tubing is translucent with a specific gravity of 0.90. The minimum bend radius is specified as ten times the tube OD.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series differ primarily by dimensional specifications (OD, ID, wall) and color options. Color codes found in model numbers include BK (Black), BL (Blue), GN (Green), OR (Orange), RE (Red), WH (White), YE (Yellow), GR (Gray), and standard translucent finishes.

Model numbering follows the format TYPP--100, where the middle segment identifies dimensions. For example, TYPP-1418 denotes ¼" OD x ⅛" ID, while TYPP-1238 denotes ½" OD x ⅜" ID.

RoHS compliance is determined by individual model number; users are directed to visit omega.com/rohs for specific verification. Specifications provided in the data sheet are typical and meant only as a guide; field testing is required to find actual operating specifications in a given application.
