Supported Applications
The Omega FL-8000A Series consists of large capacity in-line variable area flowmeters designed for economical and accurate flow rate indication. These general-purpose industrial meters are specified for oil and water applications, handling both clear and opaque fluids.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series utilizes a spring-and-piston assembly that enables mounting in any position while providing immunity to changes in viscosity. Standard units operate at process temperatures up to 116°C (240°F), with an optional high-temperature configuration rated for 204°C (400°F) at a maximum pressure of 124 bar (1800 psig). The standard pressure rating is 241.3 bar (3500 psig).
Performance specifications include ±2% full scale accuracy and ±1% repeatability. Flow ranges span from 3 to 150 GPM depending on the specific model and medium.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable options for temperature ratings, thread types, and fluid calibration:
- Temperature Options: Standard units are rated to 116°C (240°F). Units requiring operation up to 204°C (400°F) use the "-H" suffix.
- Thread Connections: The standard process connection is 1¼ FNPT. For British Standard Pipe Parallel threads, add the "-BSPP" suffix at no additional cost.
- Fluid Calibration: Models are calibrated for specific media: FL-8100A models are calibrated with 140 SUS (32 cSt) Hydraulic Oil; FL-8300AB models are calibrated with Water. Correlation equations for other fluids are available in the user's manual.
Key Product Differences
The series is divided into two primary model families distinguished by body material and calibration medium:
- FL-8100A Series (Oil): Features an aluminum body with a 302 SS spring. Wetted parts include polyphenylene sulfide, ceramic magnet, and FKM O-rings.
- FL-8300AB Series (Water): Features a brass body with a 302 SS spring. Wetted parts include polyphenylene sulfide, ceramic magnet, and FKM O-rings.
Physical dimensions for standard units are 119 x 104 mm (4.7 x 4.1") with an overall length of 310 mm (12¼"). Shipping weights vary by model: oil models weigh 3.3 kg (7.3 lb), while water models weigh 7.6 kg (16.8 lb).
