Supported Applications

The Omega TJP series consists of jack panel assemblies designed for use with RTDs, thermistors, and shielded thermocouples. These panels provide a connection interface that extends the versatility typically associated with thermocouple systems to sensors requiring three lead wires.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The TJP snap-in jacks feature 3 female terminals compatible with any 3-prong OTP male connector (specifically the OTP-U-M). The panel jacks are constructed from rugged, high-impact plastic and accommodate wire sizes up to 14 AWG. Alloys used in the connectors match ANSI thermocouple grade calibrations.

Key performance parameters include:

  • Maximum Service Temperature: 205°C (400°F)
  • Housing Material: 2.4 mm (³⁄₃₂") anodized aluminum
  • Mounting Cutout Dimensions: Rectangular cutout of 55.62 mm (2.19") height, 24.6 mm (.97") width, and 41.4 mm (1.63") depth with a 16.12 mm (0.635") cutout width.
  • Hole Spacing: ⅜" on both sides; requires a ⅜" diameter hole for #8 screw mounting.

Configuration Options

The TJP series is configurable across multiple circuit densities and row configurations. Model numbers follow the format TJP<ROWS>-<CIRCUITS PER ROW>-[*], where the final character denotes the thermocouple calibration or a blank configuration.

Panel Configurations

Panels are available in 1, 2, 3, and 4-row layouts with varying circuit counts per row:

  • 1 Row (76 mm / 3" H): Available with 6, 12, or 18 circuits.
  • 2 Rows (133 mm / 5¼" H): Available with 12, 24, or 36 circuits.
  • 3 Rows (203 mm / 8" H): Available with 18, 36, or 54 circuits.
  • 4 Rows (254 mm / 10" H): Available with 24, 48, or 72 circuits.

Sensor Compatibility & Options

The series supports the following thermocouple types by inserting J, K, T, E, N, or U into the model number. Blank panels are also available for custom labeling. Additional options include:

  • Custom color-coded anodized panels (minimum order $1,000).
  • Male plugs supplied in place of female jacks upon request.
  • I.D. labels supplied loose for field identification; extra ID number label ranges are available from Model 1-6L through Model 1-100L.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the TJP series differ primarily by physical dimensions (determined by row count and circuits per row) and sensor compatibility. The model number suffix indicates the specific thermocouple calibration supported, such as Type K or Type J, while "BLANK" variants provide unmarked panels for user-defined identification.

Assembly is performed at no extra cost for standard configurations. Non-standard panel requirements require a minimum order quantity and consultation with Omega's Custom Engineering Department.
