Supported Applications
The OMEGALUX® "S" Series strip heaters are designed for general heating applications requiring a flat, wide profile. These units feature one terminal at each end and conform to many standard installation requirements where opposite-end electrical connections are specified.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series is supplied with sheaths made of rust-resisting iron or chrome steel, maintaining a uniform width of 1½" (3.8 cm). Maximum operating temperatures vary by material selection:
- Rust-Resisting Iron Sheath: Max temperature 399°C (750°F)
- Chrome Steel Sheath: Max temperature 649°C (1200°F)
All models operate on a power supply of 120 or 240 Vac. Watt density varies by model and sheath material, with specific values documented per dimension in the selection table.
Configuration Options
The "S" Series offers extensive configurability across dimensions, wattage ratings, and voltage options to match specific thermal loads:
- Dimensions: Available lengths range from 8 in (20 cm) up to 42½ in (108 cm), with corresponding widths varying by model.
- Wattage Ratings: Power outputs span from 150 Watts to 1,500 Watts depending on the selected length and sheath material.
- Voltage Options: Each dimensional variant is available in both 120 Vac and 240 Vac configurations (e.g., S-815/120V or S-815/240V).
- Sheath Materials: Select between rust-resisting iron for lower temperature applications or chrome steel for higher thermal limits.
The model number guide follows the format S-<DIMENSIONS>/<VOLTAGE>. For example, S-1430/120 denotes a specific dimension and voltage combination. Additional strip heater models with other widths and configurations are available upon request.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the series differ primarily by physical dimensions (length A, width B, depth D), total wattage output, and sheath material composition. The catalog distinguishes between rust-resisting iron models and chrome steel models for identical dimensional footprints; typically, the chrome steel versions support higher watt densities or maximum temperatures than their iron counterparts.
Electrical connections are standardized across the series with one terminal located at each end of the strip heater body. Approvals include UL Component Recognized, CSA Certified, CE, VDE, and UL listings.
