Supported Applications

The Omega PX91 series consists of ultra-high-pressure transducers and transmitters designed for harsh environments, specifically test chambers. These rugged, hermetically sealed devices measure pressure in applications requiring high-temperature tolerance and robust construction.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PX91 series covers a measurement range from 0 to 5,000 psi up to 0 to 200,000 psi (0 to 345 bar to 0 to 13,790 bar). Accuracy is specified as ±0.35% FSO for ranges ≤70K psi and ±0.50% FSO for ranges >70K psi. Hysteresis and repeatability are both rated at ±0.10% FSO.

Operating temperature limits vary by output type: mV/V models operate from -56 to 204°C (-70 to 400°F), while amplified models (0-5 Vdc and 4-20 mA) operate from -46 to 121°C (-50 to 250°F). The compensated temperature range is 21 to 218°C (70 to 425°F) for mV/V output, and 17 to 71°C (60 to 160°F) for amplified outputs. Wetted parts materials are defined by pressure: ≤70K psi uses 17-4 PH stainless steel; >70K psi uses 455 stainless steel.

Pressure limits include proof pressures of 120% of rated pressure (≤70K psi) or 110% (>70K psi), and burst pressures of 150% of rated pressure (≤70K psi) or 120% (>70K psi).

Power Requirements

  • mV/V Output: 10 Vac/Vdc (15V max)
  • 0-5 Vdc Output: 28 Vdc ±4 V
  • 4-20 mA Output: 12 to 40 Vdc

Thermal Effects

  • mV/V Models: Span: 0.01% rdg/°F; Zero: 0.01% FSO/°F
  • Amplified Models (0-5 Vdc, 4-20 mA): Span: 0.005% rdg/°F; Zero: 0.005% FSO/°F

Configuration Options

The series offers multiple configuration options for pressure ports, electrical connections, and output signals to accommodate specific installation needs.

Pressure Ports & Wetted Materials

  • Ranges ≤70,000 psi: N Style (½-14 NPSM) using a 0.315" dia. 59° ferrule; wetted parts are 17-4 PH stainless steel.
  • Ranges >70,000 psi: P Style (1-14 NS-2) using a 0.910" dia. 150° ferrule; wetted parts are 455 stainless steel.

Electrical Connections & Outputs

  • mV/V Output: Available with a standard 3 m (10') 4-conductor shielded PTFE cable. Bridge resistance is 350 Ω nominal.
  • Amplified Models (0-5 Vdc, 4-20 mA): Electrical connections are available as PTIH-10-6P or a connector style using the mating connector PT06F10-6S-R. A lightning-protected amplifier housing is an option for these models.
  • Cable Extensions: Extra cable length can be ordered by adding suffix "-(length in feet) FT" to the model number.

Housing & Dimensions

The devices feature all stainless steel construction. Overall dimensions are 191 mm (7.50 in) for connector style and a stem length of 105 mm (4.13 in) with a diameter of 38 mm (1.50 in) for cable style.

Key Product Differences

The PX91 series is differentiated primarily by pressure range, which dictates the process connection and wetted material, as well as the output signal type, which determines operating temperature limits and electrical interface options.

  • mV/V Models: Designed for higher ambient temperatures (-56 to 204°C) with a standard cable exit. These models require an external excitation source of 10 Vac/Vdc (max 15V).
  • Amplified Models (0-5 Vdc, 4-20 mA): Offer lower operating temperature limits (-46 to 121°C) but provide conditioned outputs. These models support connector options and optional lightning protection.
  • High Pressure Configurations (>70K psi): Utilize the P Style (1-14 NS-2) pressure port and 455 stainless steel wetted parts, distinct from the N Style ports used in lower ranges.
