Supported Applications
The Omega FPT-3000 Series consists of economical averaging pitot tube flow sensors designed for accurate and convenient flow rate sensing in compatible gases, liquids, and steam. These sensors are intended to be inserted into pipelines via a compression fitting and function as part of a flow-indicating system when paired with an appropriate differential pressure gage.
Documented applications include:
- Natural gas, flare, flue, and stack gas monitoring
- Boiler feed-water and cooling water systems
- Superheated, saturated, or geothermal steam lines
- Combustion air and compressed air circuits
- Oil flow measurement
- Remediation projects requiring economical off-the-shelf solutions
Operating Conditions & Performance
The FPT-3000 Series is rated for a maximum process temperature of 93.3°C (200°F) and a maximum pressure rating of 13.7 bar (200 psig). The sensors provide an accuracy class of ±2%.
Operating ranges vary by pipe size, media type, and upstream conditions. For example, at a gage range of 2 in w.c., the series supports:
- Water (gpm): 4.8 to 560
- Air @ 14.7 psia (scfm): 19 to 2130
- Air @ 100 psig (scfm): 50 to 6000
Velocity ranges not recommended are specified per pipe size; continuous operation within these ranges can result in damage caused by excess vibration. For instance, the 1" model lists a non-recommended velocity range of 146 to 220 feet per second.
Configuration Options
The series is available for pipe sizes from 1" to 10", with specific models designated by suffix (e.g., FPT-3010 through FPT-3100). Each unit includes shut-off valves on both pressure connections, a compression fitting for mounting, and an operator's manual.
