Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series 682 Industrial Pressure Transmitter is a gauge pressure sensor designed to convert pressure into a proportional high-level analog output. Factory-calibrated units are intended for use with compatible liquids and gases in industrial environments subject to shock, vibration, temperature fluctuations, and EMI/RFI.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series 682 features a welded stainless steel housing meeting NEMA 4 (IP65) protection ratings. The electronics utilize a capacitive sensor with an overall accuracy of ±0.13% FS, which includes non-linearity, hysteresis, and non-repeatability. Performance is maintained within a compensated temperature range of -4 to 176°F (-20 to 80°C), while the device operates in ambient conditions from -4 to 176°F (-20 to 80°C) with process temperatures ranging from -40° to +260°F (-40 to 125°C). Humidity tolerance is rated at 10 to 90% RH, non-condensing.
Key performance specifications include a response time of 5 ms and the ability to withstand shock up to 200 g operating. Vibration resistance is specified as 20 g across 50-2000 Hz. Thermal effects are documented with a zero shift of 1.0% FS/100°F and a span shift of ±1.5% FS/100°F.
Measurement Ranges
The series supports the following pressure ranges, each paired with its specific overpressure limit:
- 0 to 25 psi (100 psi overpressure)
- 0 to 50 psi (150 psi overpressure)
- 0 to 100 psi (300 psi overpressure)
- 0 to 250 psi (500 psi overpressure)
- 0 to 500 psi (1000 psi overpressure)
- 0 to 1000 psi (2000 psi overpressure)
- 0 to 3000 psi (4500 psi overpressure)
- 0 to 5000 psi (7500 psi overpressure)
- 0 to 10000 psi (12500 psi overpressure)
Configuration Options
The Series 682 is configured with a standard process connection of 1/4" male NPT. Wetted parts are constructed from 17-4 PH Stainless Steel (SS). Electrical output is provided as a 4 to 20 mA, 2-wire signal requiring observation of polarity for proper operation.
Power requirements range from 9 to 30 VDC with a maximum loop resistance of 800 Ω. The unit includes a 2 ft (51 cm) multiconductor cable as the standard electrical connection. Zero and span adjustments are available within ±0.5 mA, non-interactive.
Optional accessories include an NIST traceable calibration certificate for pressure transmitters (Model: NISTCAL-PT1). For installation in hazardous or demanding environments, a suggested junction box configuration includes the Hoffman Engineering Co. Q138PCE Junction Box and Heyco 3237 Flex Fitting.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the Series 682 are distinguished by their pressure range codes, which correspond to specific measurement spans:
- -0: 0 to 25 psi (100 psi overpressure)
- -1: 0 to 50 psi (150 psi overpressure)
- -2: 0 to 100 psi (300 psi overpressure)
- -3: 0 to 250 psi (500 psi overpressure)
- -4: 0 to 500 psi (1000 psi overpressure)
- -5: 0 to 1000 psi (2000 psi overpressure)
- -6: 0 to 3000 psi (4500 psi overpressure)
- -7: 0 to 5000 psi (7500 psi overpressure)
- -8: 0 to 10000 psi (12500 psi overpressure)
All units are vented to atmosphere for best accuracy, particularly in low-pressure ranges. The devices are not field repairable and must be returned to the factory if recalibration or service is required.
