Supported Applications
The Omega DMD Series Alarm Module (models DMD1080 and DMD1080-DC) functions as a DC input alarm trip module designed to accept DC voltage or current inputs. The series provides visual alarm indication and relay contact outputs for process monitoring applications requiring isolated, field-configurable setpoints.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The DMD Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -10°C to +60°C (14°F to 140°F). Accuracy is specified as better than 1% of span over the operating temperature range, with a stability of better than 0.02% of span per °C. The typical response time for the module is 70 milliseconds.
Input ranges are field-selectable via external switches and include:
- Voltage: 0-50 mV to ±10 Vdc (including offset ranges such as 1-5 V)
- Current: 0-1 mA to 4-20 mADC
The module provides isolation of 1200 Vac from power to input and includes 600 Vac or 600 Vdc common mode protection. Input impedance is a minimum of 250 kΩ for voltage inputs, with a typical burden of 50 Ω for current inputs.
Relay Contact Ratings
The heavy-duty relay contacts support the following loads:
- 8 Amps @ 240 Vac resistive load
- 5 Amps @ 240 Vac inductive load
- 8 Amps @ 30 Vdc resistive load
- 3.5 Amps @ 30 Vdc inductive load (external contact protection such as an RC snubber is recommended for inductive loads)
Configuration Options
The series supports two primary power configurations and a wide range of field-configurable settings accessible via front-accessible potentiometers and external rotary/slide switches.
Power Supply Options
- DMD1080: 60 to 265 Vac, 50/60 Hz or 85 to 300 Vdc (2W maximum)
- DMD1080-DC: 9 to 30 Vdc or 10 to 32 Vac, 50/60 Hz (2W maximum)
Configuration and Adjustment
The module features a single setpoint adjustment for two DPST relay contacts. Key configurable parameters include:
- Set Point: Adjustable from 0 to 100% of span via a 12-turn potentiometer.
- Deadband (Hysteresis): Adjustable from 1 to 100% of span via a 12-turn potentiometer.
- Alarm Operation: Field configurable for HI or LO operation, latching or non-latching, and normal or reverse acting modes.
- Contact Form: Provides two Form A (NO) and two Form B (NC) contact sets on 8 terminals; may be field wired for Form C operation.
The unit includes a functional test/reset button that toggles the relay to the opposite state when pressed or resets the latching relay if latching mode is selected. The module mounts to a standard 35 mm DIN rail and carries an IP40 rating. Electrical connections utilize four 4-terminal removable connectors with a maximum wire size of 14 AWG.
Key Product Differences
The DMD Series distinguishes between two model numbers based on power input requirements:
- DMD1080: Standard power input (60-265 Vac or 85-300 Vdc).
- DMD1080-DC: Low power input (9-30 Vdc or 10-32 Vac).
Both models share identical dimensions of 22.5 W x 117 H x 122 mm D (0.89" x 4.62" x 4.81") and the same input/output configuration capabilities.
