Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series DMF Digital Mass Flow Controllers are designed for the precise control of gas flow in industrial applications. The series utilizes straight tube sensors with restrictor flow elements to ensure laminar gas flow, providing accurate and repeatable results unaffected by temperature and pressure variations. Calibration information is stored in memory for up to 10 gases, with conversion factors available for up to 256 different gases.
Supported media includes clean gases compatible with wetted parts (316 SS, 416 SS, fluoroelastomer O-rings). The series supports the following specific applications and functions:
- Precise control of gas flow rates
- Totalizer operations including stop totalizer and preset totalize from flow
- Auto zero balancing to eliminate drift of zero and span
- Operation of pumps, valves, or other process equipment via two dry contact closures
- Custom programming execution for up to ten steps in programmable flow modes
Note: DMF transducers should not be used for monitoring OXYGEN gas unless specifically cleaned and prepared. The controller will not operate with liquids.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series DMF operates within an ambient temperature range of 41 to 122°F (5 to 50°C). Specified flow ranges are for an equivalent flow of nitrogen at 70°F (21°C) @ 760 mm Hg. The maximum allowable pressure is 500 psig (34.5 bar), with a leak integrity rating of 1 x 10⁻⁹ sccs of helium and a maximum particulate size limit of 100 microns.
Performance specifications vary by operating conditions:
- Accuracy (Standard): ±1% FS including linearity between 59 to 77°F (15 to 25°C) and 10 to 60 psia (0.7 to 4 bar)
- Accuracy (Extended): ±2% FS from 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C) and 5 to 150 psia (0.3 to 10 bar)
- Repeatability: ±0.15% of full-scale
- Response Time: 0.6 to 1.0 second to within ±2% of setpoint over 20% to 100% FS
The series requires a power supply of ±15 VDC with a maximum consumption of 13.5 watts.

Key Product Differences
The Series DMF is distinguished by its model number, which indicates the specific flow range and configuration. Model numbers follow the format DMF-, such as DMF-41403 or DMF-41842.
- Housing Size Variation: Units are physically differentiated by size based on flow capacity, with larger housings required for flows ≥ 50 L/M compared to those ≤ 15 L/M.
- Connection Sizing: Process connections vary between 1/4" and 3/8" compression fittings depending on the selected flow range (≤50 L/m vs. ≥60 L/m).
