Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series CDWP Carbon Dioxide Transmitter accurately monitors CO2 concentration in industrial and indoor environments to help achieve energy savings. The rugged IP54 aluminum housing with an exterior gray finish coat is tested to withstand a 168-hour salt spray corrosion test, protecting the sensor from splashing liquid and airborne dust or debris. Documented applications include:

  • Animal husbandry
  • Confined feeding operations
  • Mechanical rooms
  • CO2 refrigeration monitoring
  • Greenhouses

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series CDWP utilizes a single-beam dual-wavelength non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensor. Measurement ranges are available as 0 to 2000 PPM, 0 to 5000 PPM, or 0 to 10000 PPM CO2. Accuracy specifications vary by range: ±40 PPM + 3% of reading (2000 PPM), ±50 PPM + 5% of reading (5000 PPM), and ±50 PPM + 10% of reading (10000 PPM). The specified CO2 accuracy is guaranteed after three weeks of continuous operation in intermittently occupied environments.

Operating conditions are defined as follows:

  • Ambient Temperature: 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C)
  • Humidity Limits: 10 to 95% RH non-condensing for 2000 and 5000 PPM models; 0 to 85% RH non-condensing for the 10000 PPM model
  • Response Time: 300 s (t63) for 2000 and 5000 PPM ranges; 2 min for 90% step change for the 10000 PPM range
  • Pressure Dependence: 0.13% of reading per mm of Hg (for 2000 and 5000 PPM models)

A warm-up period of 30 minutes is required upon powering the transmitter for it to adjust to current CO2 concentration. The self-calibration feature requires exposure to normal outdoor equivalent carbon dioxide levels once every thirty days.

Configuration Options

The series supports configurable output signals, mounting methods, and electrical connections via a model number guide (e.g., CDWP-02-W-C1). The transmitter features Automated CO2 Baseline Correction (ABC) for maintenance-free operation in intermittently occupied spaces.

Outputs and Configuration

  • Output Signals: 4-20 mA (max. 500 Ω), 0-5 VDC, or 0-10 VDC (min. 500 Ω). Output ranges are selectable via DIP switches.
  • Power Supply: 16-35 VDC or 19-28 VAC
  • Display Options: LCD configuration options include CO2 concentration and relative humidity (CH), CO2 and temperature (CT), Temperature and relative humidity (TH), or individual parameters.
  • Relay Option: Optional relay set points for energizing/de-energizing based on CO2 concentration thresholds.

Housing and Connections

  • Housing Material: Aluminum with exterior gray finish coat, IP54 rated.
  • Mounting Method: Wall mount (W) or optional suspension bracket. Mounting orientation must be vertical with electrical connections pointing downward.
  • Electrical Connection Options: Cable gland for 1 to 6 mm cable (-C1), cable gland for 5 to 8 mm cable (-C5), or M12 connector option (fits 4-6 mm or 6-8 mm cable).

Sensor and Calibration Features

  • Barometric Pressure Compensation: Configurable via menu settings for typical barometric pressure at the installation location.
  • Average Atmospheric CO2: User-settable value (AAC) for automatic background calibration reference, ranging from 200 PPM to 9999 PPM.
  • Remote Display Tool: Compatible with Remote Display Tool (A-449).

Key Product Differences

Variants within the Series CDWP are distinguished by measurement range, mounting method, and electrical connection type. The model number construction follows the format: CDWP - [GAS CONCENTRATION RANGE] - [MOUNTING METHOD] - [ELECTRICAL CONNECTION].

  • -02: 2000 PPM range
  • -05: 5000 PPM range
  • -10: 10000 PPM range
  • W: Wall mount
  • C1: Cable gland for 1 to 6 mm cable
  • C5: Cable gland for 5 to 8 mm cable

The Series CDWP is not field serviceable; repair should not be attempted as it may void the warranty. The unit carries CE approval.
