Supported Applications

The Omega iNET-600 Series is a high accuracy direct-to-sensor USB data acquisition system designed for laboratory and industrial measurement tasks. The series provides 16 single-ended or 8 differential voltage input channels with a 24-bit A/D converter, enabling the connection of various sensors including thermocouples, thermistors, RTDs, load cells, strain gages, potentiometers, current sources, resistance devices, and direct voltage inputs.

Control is managed via Windows software using analog and digital I/O. The system supports compatibility with Excel, LabVIEW, DASYLab, MATLAB, Origin, C & Visual BASIC software for data logging and analysis applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The iNET-600 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of 1 to 70°C (34 to 158°F) with a storage temperature rating of -20 to 70°C (-4 to 158°F). Humidity must remain below <90% RH, no condensation. The unit is powered by +5 Vdc from the USB cable, drawing 255 mA typical (433 mA max).

Measurement ranges span ±20 mV to ±10V with a resolution of 24-bit. Absolute accuracy varies by range and signal averaging time:

  • ±10V Range: Accuracy is ±(0.005% + 1569.9 μV) for 0 mSec averaging or ±(0.005% + 271.8 μV) for 1.0 mSec averaging.
  • ±5V Range: Accuracy is ±(0.005% + 709.4 μV) for 0 mSec averaging or ±(0.005% + 131.6 μV) for 1.0 mSec averaging.
  • ±2.5V Range: Accuracy is ±(0.005% + 374.2 μV) for 0 mSec averaging or ±(0.005% + 69.2 μV) for 1.0 mSec averaging.
  • ±1.2V Range: Accuracy is ±(0.005% + 197.3 μV) for 0 mSec averaging or ±(0.005% + 37.2 μV) for 1.0 mSec averaging.
  • ±600 mV Range: Accuracy is ±(0.005% + 123.9 μV) for 0 mSec averaging or ±(0.005% + 22.4 μV) for 1.0 mSec averaging.
  • ±300 mV Range: Accuracy is ±(0.005% + 90.9 μV) for 0 mSec averaging or ±(0.005% + 15.3 μV) for 1.0 mSec averaging.
  • ±150 mV Range: Accuracy is ±(0.005% + 70.4 μV) for 0 mSec averaging or ±(0.005% + 11.4 μV) for 1.0 mSec averaging.
  • ±80 mV Range: Accuracy is ±(0.005% + 49.3 μV) for 0 mSec averaging or ±(0.005% + 8.6 μV) for 1.0 mSec averaging.
  • ±40 mV Range: Accuracy is ±(0.005% + 32.8 μV) for 0 mSec averaging or ±(0.005% + 6.7 μV) for 1.0 mSec averaging.
  • ±20 mV Range: Accuracy is ±(0.006% + 32.1 μV) for 0 mSec averaging or ±(0.006% + 6.5 μV) for 1.0 mSec averaging.

The system provides excitation power of +3.3V ±0.2V (80 mA, 28 mA per sensor max). It includes 4 digital I/O channels capable of 4 mA sink/source at 0 to 3.3V.

Configuration Options

The series is available in two primary configurations: the iNET-600 and the iNET-601. The iNET-601 model offers ±36V input bank to USB electrical isolation, whereas the standard configuration connects I/O signal ground to computer ground.

Physical Specifications

  • Housing: Plastic enclosure with dimensions of 58 H x 96 W x 24 mm D (3.784 x 0.924 x 2.286").
  • Weight: 454 g (1 lb).
  • Connector Type: Hd44 Female Connector.
  • Certifications: CE, RoHS.

Sensor Interface Options

The system supports direct connection to sensors via the included instruNet World Software. For thermocouple applications, an iNET-510 wiring box is required due to its internal cold junction compensation. Additional optional wiring boxes include:

  • iNET-510: 0 BNC connectors; supports Thermocouples.
  • iNET-511: 8 BNC connectors; includes individual banks of screw terminals for each sensor.
  • iNET-512: Supports ¼ and ½ bridge strain gage vRef/2 with individual banks of screw terminals.

The system is a stand-alone USB data acquisition unit requiring no external power supply. Included accessories are the hardware device, USB cable, software on CD, mating Hd44 Female Connector, and Hd44 Cover.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between models in this series is electrical isolation:

  • iNET-600: Standard configuration where I/O signal ground connects to computer ground. Receives power from the USB bus.
  • iNET-601: Features ±36V input bank to USB electrical isolation, providing separation between sensor inputs and the host computer interface.

Digital I/O functionality is consistent across the series, consisting of 4 individual TTL-compatible lines (Ch#25...#28) with a 4 mA sink/source capability. Both models utilize the same plastic enclosure dimensions and Hd44 Female Connector for sensor interfacing.
