Supported Applications

The Series 636 Fixed Range Pressure Transmitter is a low-cost, fixed-range, all stainless steel transmitter that converts liquid, gas or vapor pressure into a 4-20 mA DC output (or 1-5 VDC on the 636LP). All 316L SS construction makes it compatible with most corrosive media, and it is designed to continuously measure pressure for years even in tough environmental and media conditions.

  • Continuous pressure measurement of liquid, gas or vapor
  • Corrosive-media service using 316L SS wetted parts
  • Explosion-proof, offshore and hazardous-location installations

The transmitter is FM and CSA approved explosion-proof for Class I, Division 1, Groups B, C and D; Class II, Groups E, F and G; and Class III, and it meets NACE standards for offshore applications. It is weatherproof with a NEMA 4 (IP56) enclosure rating.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Accuracy is ±0.30% of calibrated span including linearity, hysteresis and repeatability (BFSL) at 25°C (77°F) and 12 VDC excitation, with stability of ±0.5% of upper range limit for six months. Pressure limits are 300% of the upper range limit.

  • Output signal: 4-20 mA DC, limited to 30 mA DC (636); 1-5 VDC (636LP).
  • Power: 12-30 VDC (636), 8-14 VDC (636LP), with reverse polarity protection.
  • Loop resistance: 900 Ω max @ 30 V.
  • Process temperature: -40 to 100°C.
  • Ambient (electronics) temperature: -40 to 60°C.
  • Compensated temperature range: -29 to 82°C, with a thermal effect of ±2.0% per 50°F (28°C).

Zero and span adjustments are Null 4.0 mA ±2% span and Span 16.0 mA ±1% span on the 636 (1 VDC and 4 VDC on the 636LP). The process connection is 1/2" female NPT and the electrical connection is a 3/4" female NPT with a 24" (61 cm), 22 AWG lead. The fill fluid is DC 200 silicone and the transmitter weighs 0.83 lb (374 g).

Configuration Options

Models differ by fixed pressure range and by output type, so the transmitter can be selected for the exact span and signal the loop requires.

  • Fixed range: each model is factory-set to one span, from 0 to 1 bar up to 0 to 20 bar.
  • Output type: the standard 636 provides a 4-20 mA DC signal, while the 636LP provides a 1-5 VDC signal and runs on 8-14 VDC.

The NISTCAL-PT1 option adds a NIST traceable calibration certificate to any model.

Key Product Differences

The model number is 636-<model>. The defined fixed ranges, all with a 4-20 mA output, are:

  • 636-0 is factory-set to a span of 0 to 1 bar.
  • 636-1 is factory-set to a span of 0 to 2 bar.
  • 636-2 is factory-set to a span of 0 to 7 bar.
  • 636-3 is factory-set to a span of 0 to 20 bar.

Additional fixed-range models 636-4, 636-6 and 636-7 complete the lineup, and the 636LP provides the low-power 1-5 VDC output option.
