Supported Applications
The Omega STYLE 2 RTD series comprises fast-response exposed RTD elements with lead wires designed for temperature measurement. These sensors feature thin-film or wire-wound sensing elements intended for applications requiring rapid thermal response, documented as less than 75 milliseconds in water flowing at 3 feet per second (63%). The series supports configurations up to 480°C (900°F) and is manufactured in the USA with OMEGACAL factory calibration available.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The measurement range extends from ambient conditions up to a maximum process temperature of 480°C (900°F), depending on the selected cable option. Accuracy classes include Class 'A' (±0.06 Ω standard, IEC CLASS A ±0.15°C @ 0°C) and Class 'B' (±0.12 Ω). Higher precision options are available as ¼ DIN (±0.04 Ω) and ⅛ DIN (±0.012 Ω), though these accuracies apply only to specific wire-wound elements in 4-wire configurations.
Response time is specified at less than 75 milliseconds in water flowing at 3 feet per second (63%). The series utilizes #26 AWG lead wires configured as 2-, 3-, or 4-wire connections. Wetted materials include PFA, Fiberglass, Epoxy, and Ceramic.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable dimensions across element types, cable lengths, insulation options, terminations, and accuracy classes to meet specific installation needs.
- Sensor Elements: Available as thin-film (F3105: 2 x 2 mm; F3102: 4 x 5 mm) or wire-wound (1PT100K2515: 1.5 dia. x 25 mm long; 1PT100KN2528: 2.8 dia. x 25 mm long).
- Cable Options: Standard length is 1 m (40"). Insulation options include PFA for temperatures up to 230°C, Fiberglass with Ceramic potting for up to 480°C, and Bare wire configurations rated to 600°C.
- Termination Options: Configurable terminations include Miniature Connector (MTP-U-M), Heavy-Duty Connector (OTP-U-M), Audio Connectors (TA3F, TA4F), Copper Lugs, or a 4 to 20 mA Transmitter (SPRTX).
- Accuracy Classes: Standard Class 'A' and Class 'B'; ultra-precise ¼ DIN and ⅛ DIN are available for wire-wound elements in 4-wire construction.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between thin-film and wire-wound element technologies. Thin-film elements (F3105, F3102) offer compact dimensions of 2 x 2 mm or 4 x 5 mm with PFA or Fiberglass insulation options up to 480°C. Wire-wound elements (1PT100K2515, 1PT100KN2528) provide cylindrical profiles ranging from 1.5 dia. x 25 mm long to 2.8 dia. x 25 mm long.
Accuracy capabilities vary by element type and lead configuration: Class 'A' (±0.06 Ω) is standard, while the higher precision ¼ DIN (±0.04 Ω) and ⅛ DIN (±0.012 Ω) accuracies are restricted to the 1PT100K2515 and 1PT100KN2528 wire-wound elements in 4-wire configurations only.
Cable insulation determines maximum operating temperature: PFA-insulated cables support up to 230°C (450°F), Fiberglass with Ceramic potting supports up to 480°C (900°F), and Bare wire options extend the range to 600°C. Model numbers reflect these variations, such as replacing "T" or "G" with "B" for bare wires.
