Supported Applications

The Omega ARMTS-3 Series consists of heavy-duty immersion heaters with integral thermostats, designed specifically for process water applications. These units feature a 3-element heater design and passivated stainless steel wetted parts to manage temperature in industrial fluid systems.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates on 208, 240, or 480V; 3 phase power. Power ratings range from 3 kW to 18 kW with watt densities varying between 46 W/in² and 53 W/in² depending on the specific model configuration.

Temperature control is provided by an integral bulb and capillary thermostat available in two ranges:

  • T-2 Temp Range: 60 to 250°F
  • T-1 Temp Range: 0 to 100°F

Wetted parts utilize passivated stainless steel sheath elements with a diameter of 0.475 dia., connected via a 2½ NPT passivated stainless steel screw plug.

Safety and Control Notes

  • The integral thermostat functions as a temperature control only; it is not a fail-safe device.
  • An approved pressure or temperature control should be used with these heaters to assure safe operation.
  • Models exceeding 48 amps are noted as Not UL Listed or CSA Certified and Not CSA NRTL/C Certified in specific configurations.

Configuration Options

The ARMTS-3 Series is configurable across power ratings, voltage designations, thermostat ranges, and enclosure types. The model number structure follows the format: ARMTS-<kW> - <Temp Range> - <Voltage Designation> - <Phase> - <Enclosure Type>.

Power and Voltage

  • kW Ratings: 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5, 9, 12, 15, or 18 kW.
  • Voltage Designation: Specify voltage in the model number (e.g., "240" for 240V or "480" for 480V).

Housing and Enclosure Options

  • General Purpose: NEMA-1 rated enclosure.
  • Type E2: Moisture resistant/explosion resistant enclosure (indicated by the "E2" suffix in model numbers).

Dimensions and Connections

  • Overall Length (Dim. B): Ranges from 18 cm (7 in) to 119 cm (47 in), varying by kW rating.
  • Cold Reference Length: 5 cm (2 in).
  • Thermowell Length: Available as 15 cm (6 in) or 20 cm (7.875 in).

  • Thermostat Range Codes: Models include a "T1" suffix for the 0 to 100°F range or no suffix (standard) for the 60 to 250°F range. Some variants may also feature a "T2" designation.
  • Enclosure Suffixes: The absence of an enclosure code indicates a general purpose NEMA-1 rated housing, while models with an "E2" suffix denote the moisture resistant/explosion resistant type E2 enclosure.
