Supported Applications

The Omega NB1 Spring Loaded Thermocouple Probes are designed for industrial process temperature measurement. These non-sealed probes are intended for use in thermowells, where the spring-loading mechanism provides tip contact to ensure faster response times during operation.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series meets or exceeds Special Limit of Error (SLE) and EN 60584-2 Tolerance Class 1 accuracy standards. Standard probe dimensions include an overall length of 300 mm (12") with a threaded insertion length allowance of approximately ½" for threads, resulting in an approximate travel length of 13 mm (½"). Sheath diameters range from 1.5 mm (¹⁄₁₆") to 6.0 mm (¼"). The probes feature terminal block electrical connections and are manufactured in the USA.

Configuration Options

The series offers extensive configuration options across protection heads, thermocouple alloys, sheath materials, junction types, and lengths.

  • Protection Heads: Available with NB1 Cast Iron or NB2 Miniature Aluminum heads.
  • Thermocouple Alloys: Includes Type J (Iron-Constantan), Type K (Chromega®-Alomega®), Type E (Chromega®-Constantan), and Type T (Copper-Constantan).
  • Sheath Materials: Standard options include Inconel and 304 SS. The series supports SUPER OMEGACLAD XL sheaths for highest temperature and stability ratings, as well as 310 SS, 316 SS, or 321 SS (no additional charge).
  • Junction Types: Specify G (Grounded), U (Ungrounded), or E (Exposed) per the ordering guide.
  • Dual Element Options: Certain configurations are available with dual elements, indicated by a "-DUAL" suffix in model numbers.
  • Lengths: While 300 mm (12") is standard, probes can be ordered in other lengths by modifying the length code in the model number and adding price per additional foot.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between NB1 Cast Iron heads and NB2 Miniature Aluminum heads. Model numbers follow a structured format: NB1----12-TBSL. For example, an ordering code such as NB1-ICSS-14U-12-TBSL denotes a spring-loaded probe with an NB1-type cast iron head, Type J calibration (Iron-Constantan), 6.0 mm (¼") OD ungrounded 304 SS sheath, and 300 mm (12") length.
