Supported Applications

The Omega PX4600 series is a family of solid-state, dielectrically isolated pressure transducers housed in a TO-8 transistor case for OEM and printed circuit board mounting. The sensing element is a micro-machined diffused silicon diaphragm with a 4 active arm bridge, giving accurate, highly reliable pressure measurement in a very small, light package.

Because of their small size and light weight, these transducers are well suited to demanding vibration and shock environments, including fixed wing aircraft service, and they are compatible with most industrial fluids and oils. Both gage and absolute pressure versions are offered, so the series can be built into instruments, test equipment, and embedded OEM designs.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PX4600 series covers standard ranges of 0 to 15, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 300 psi in both gage and absolute pressure, with corresponding metric ranges from 0 to 1.0 bar up to 0 to 20.7 bar. Combined accuracy is ±0.25% FSO, covering linearity, hysteresis, and repeatability.

Each transducer is excited at 10 Vdc and provides a nominal output of 30 mV ±10% @ 10 Vdc, with a zero balance of 0 mV ± 5% FSO. Input resistance is 2000 Ω minimum and output resistance is 1000 to 1500 Ω.

  • Operating temperature: -55 to 150 °C (-65 to 300 °F).
  • Compensated temperature: -55 to 121 °C (-65 to 250 °F).
  • Proof pressure: 250% of rated pressure, up to 500 psi max.
  • Burst pressure: 300% of rated pressure, up to 500 psi max.
  • Shock: 100 g, 11 ms half sine wave without damage.
  • Weight: 5 g (0.2 oz) maximum.

Under 35 g peak sinusoidal vibration from 10 Hz to 2000 Hz, output does not exceed 0.04% FSO/g for the 15 psi range, decreasing to 0.005% FSO/g for the 100 psi range and above. Wetted parts are Nitride, Pyrex glass, epoxy, and Kovar, and the units are built to NIST Standard and are CE marked.

Configuration Options

All PX4600 models share the same solid-state silicon sensing element, TO-8 transistor case, 12-pin connector, 10 Vdc excitation, and 30 mV ±10% output. What changes from model to model is the pressure range and whether the transducer reads gage or absolute pressure.

Pressure Range

Standard ranges span 0 to 15 psi through 0 to 300 psi, with the smaller ranges suited to low-pressure sensing and the higher ranges to broader spans. The same span is expressed in metric form from 0 to 1.0 bar through 0 to 20.7 bar.

Pressure Type

Both gage and absolute versions are available for the offered ranges, letting the same mechanical package serve applications referenced either to ambient or to a sealed vacuum reference.

Physical Package

Each unit measures 15.2 mm (0.60 in) in diameter with a 19.1 mm (0.75 in) stem length and a 12.7 mm (0.50 in) body height, and terminates in a 12-pin connector.

Key Product Differences

The catalog number is built from the PX4600 base followed by the pressure range and the pressure type. For example, PX4600-015AV and PX4600-015GV share the 0 to 15 psi range while differing in pressure type.

Representative models across the lineup include:

  • PX4600-015GV and PX4600-015AV — 0 to 15 psi.
  • PX4600-100AV and PX4600-100GV — 0 to 100 psi.
  • PX4600-300GV and PX4600-300AV — 0 to 300 psi.
