Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series SFI-100T is a sight flow indicator and transmitter designed for visual indication and remote monitoring of compatible fluids. The unit combines the robust construction of the 100 Series Sight Flow Indicator with an A-711T output sensor to provide both local visibility via a bright red impeller and electrical pulse outputs proportional to flow rate.
Documented applications include HVAC systems and chillers, where weatherproof operation is required. The unit features UV-stabilized materials suitable for outdoor environments unaffected by sunlight exposure.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series SFI-100T operates within a process temperature range of -20 to 200°F (-29 to 93°C) and an ambient electrical temperature limit of -20 to 212°F (-28 to 100°C). The maximum pressure rating is 125 psi (8.62 bar), with a maximum fluid viscosity of 200 SSU.
Performance specifications for the A-711T option include an accuracy of ±5% FS and a frequency output range of 0 to 100 Hz. The transmitter requires a power supply of 8 to 28 VDC. Two distinct flow ranges are available depending on the model size: 2 to 20 GPM (7.6 to 75.5 LPM) for the 1/2" connection and 3 to 35 GPM (11.4 to 132.5 LPM) for the 3/4" connection.
Configuration Options
The series is configured with a solid brass body, tempered glass window, and Buna-N gaskets. Wetted materials include Red UV stabilized PBT for the rotor, 316 SS for the rotor pin, and 300 Series SS for thrust washers.
Process Connections & Sizes
- SFI-100T-1/2-A711T: 1/2" Female NPT connection; flow range 2 to 20 GPM (7.6 to 75.5 LPM).
- SFI-100T-3/4-A711T: 3/4" Female NPT connection; flow range 3 to 35 GPM (11.4 to 132.5 LPM).
Electrical Outputs & Wiring
The A-711T sensor provides two pulsed voltage signals:
- White lead: 5 VDC out pulse.
- Green lead: 8 to 28 VDC equal to supply voltage, with a frequency rate proportional to flow rate.
The electrical connections include Black (Ground) and Red (8 to 28 VDC supply). The output signal formulas vary by size: GPM = Freq (Hz) / 2.0 for the 1/2" model, and GPM = Freq (Hz) / 1.5 for the 3/4" model.
Installation & Mounting
The unit is designed for horizontal mounting with a minimum straight pipe section of 10 times the tube diameter on the inlet side. When mounted horizontally, the 'belly' of the indicator must be positioned at the bottom to prevent entrapped bubbles.
Key Product Differences
The primary variation within the Series SFI-100T is defined by pipe size and corresponding flow range:
- SFI-100T-1/2-A711T: Features a 1/2" Female NPT connection. The output signal calculation uses a divisor of 2.0 (GPM = Freq / 2.0).
- SFI-100T-3/4-A711T: Features a 3/4" Female NPT connection. The output signal calculation uses a divisor of 1.5 (GPM = Freq / 1.5).
The A-711T is also listed as an available output sensor package separate from the complete indicator assembly.
