FMG70B-Series

Supported Applications

The FMG70B Series is a trio of extremely compact, low-cost inductive magnetic flow sensors for measuring or metering water and aqueous solutions. Operating without moving parts, the sensors bring a highly reliable magnetic-inductive technique to low-flow process-control points that were previously difficult to instrument.

Because measurement is unaffected by changes in temperature, density, viscosity, concentration or electrical conductivity, the FMG70B is well suited to dosing, blending and monitoring of electrically conductive liquids. The fluid must have a minimum conductivity of 50 µs/cm and the measuring tube must remain completely filled. The device is not a safety component and must not be used as one.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Accuracy is ±1.5% of reading ±0.3% range, with repeatability of 1% and a response time of < 500 ms. The sensor is powered from 24 Vdc ±10% and drives a maximum load of 250 Ω to GND through an M12 x 1 plug connector.

Process temperature is rated to 90°C, with an ambient range of 5 to 70°C. The pressure rating is 16 bar, and the enclosure is rated NEMA 4X (IP65). Wetted parts comprise Stainless steel 316 TI electrodes and process connection, a PEEK-GF30 measuring pipe and an EPDM gasket, with a cast aluminum housing. The series is CE and RoHS marked and carries a 1 year warranty.

Available accessories include the M12C-PVC-4-R-F-5 (5 m) and M12C-PVC-4-R-F-10 (10 m) right-angle M12 cables with stripped leads, and the PSU-93 unregulated power supply.

Configuration Options

The three base sensors differ chiefly by measuring range and pulse resolution. FMG71B covers 0.5 to 30 LPM (0.13 to 7.93 GPM) at 3785 pulses/gal; FMG72B covers 1 to 60 LPM (0.26 to 15.85 GPM) at 1893 pulses/gal; and FMG73B covers 5 to 250 LPM (1.32 to 66 GPM) at 757 pulses/gal.

Physical size follows range: the FMG71B and FMG72B share a body of 124 mm length, 80 mm width and 36 mm height, while the larger-range FMG73B is 140 mm long, 80 mm wide and 36 mm high. The standard output is an NPN frequency pulse; the -A models add a 4 to 20 mA (0 to full scale) analog output, and -BSP models provide a BSP thread connection.
