Supported Applications

The Weiss SD-Series comprises NSF listed solar remote reading digital thermometers designed for food zone applications. The series includes LED and LCD models, such as the retrofit units (Series DT) and solar-powered configurations (Models 56SD, 72SD, 25SD, 20SD). These instruments are engineered to meet NSF Accuracy requirements for monitoring temperature in environments requiring sanitary compliance.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Solar-powered models operate using light energy within a range of 15 Lux to 50,000 Lux. The series features a ten second update time and includes battery backup capabilities for power outages; specific configurations offer up to 36 hours of operation or 15 LUX @ 10 years depending on the model.

Measurement ranges vary by configuration:

• Solar LCD models (25SD, 72SD) are factory set for 40-0-160°F or 40-0-70°C.
• The 56SD model supports field-switchable ranges of 40-0-230°F and 40-0-110°C.
• Series DT LED models cover a range of 40/0/230°F.

Accuracy specifications are defined by the NSF standard for food zone applications:

• Models 25SD, 72SD, and 20SD: ±2°F between -20 to +60°F.
• Model 56SD: 1% of reading ±1°F or ±5°C.

Enclosure ratings include Splash Proof (with optional black or white gasket) and Waterproof from Front, depending on the specific case design. Power options include 120Vac direct power without a transformer and a 9V DC battery back-up circuit.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable dimensions across multiple mounting styles and housing materials:

• Housing & Mounting: Options include 1" x 4" Surface Mounting, 2" Round Back (56mm Square Front), 2 1/2" Round Back (72mm Square Front), U-Clamp Case (Models 56SD-U and 72SD-U), Hanging, Horiz. Wall Mount, and Panel Mount with clips.
• Materials & Finishes: Cases are available in Black or White; stainless steel housings feature a Silver Mask. Custom logos can be requested on the mask.
• Sensor Lengths: Standard lengths include 3 Ft. and 5 Ft., with longer line lengths available upon consultation with the factory.
• Display Types: Configurations offer 1/2" LCD (1/10° display), 3/8" LCD, or LED displays depending on the model series.

Key Product Differences

The SD-Series distinguishes between specific model families based on mounting style and power requirements:

• Solar-Powered Models (56SD, 72SD, 20SD): These units operate primarily via solar energy. The 56SD features a field-switchable range capability not present in the factory-set ranges of the 25SD or 72SD.
• Retrofit LED Models (Series DT): Includes models such as 20DT-F and 24DT, designed for front flange, U-Clamp, or back mount installations with a fixed range of 40/0/230°F.
• Economy Battery Type: The LC58 model is offered as an economy battery type panel meter with clips, covering a range of 40/0/230°F and utilizing a 4 ft sensor length.
