Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series V10 Flotect® Mini-Size Flow Switch is designed to monitor the presence or absence of flow in compatible gases or liquids. This hermetically sealed reed switch sensor features a vane actuated mechanism suitable for installation in horizontal pipe runs ranging from 1/2" to 2" diameter.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates with process temperatures up to 200°F (93°C). Pressure ratings depend on the body material: brass bodies are rated for 1000 psig (69 bar), while 303 SS bodies support 2000 psig (138 bar). The enclosure is weatherproof, meeting NEMA 4X (IP66) standards.
Flow actuation and deactuation rates vary by pipe size and trim configuration. For cold water applications in a horizontal run, approximate flow ranges span from 2.6/2.3 GPM to 9.5/9.1 GPM for Normally Open (N.O.) configurations across the documented trims. Air flow actuation/deactuation rates range approximately from 10.3/8.8 SCFM to 50.2/48.4 SCFM for N.O. settings, with specific values dependent on pipe diameter and trim selection.
Configuration Options
The Series V10 offers configurable options across body materials, process connections, and switch logic:
- Body Materials: Brass or 303 SS. Wetted parts include a 301 SS vane, pin, spring (available in 302 SS and 316 SS), and Ceramic 8 magnet.
- Process Connections: Available with 1/2" male NPT or 1/2" male BSPT threads.
- Switch Configuration: SPST hermetically sealed reed switch, field adjustable for Normally Open (N.O.) or Normally Closed (N.C.).
- Electrical Connections: Includes 18 AWG lead wires, 19" (483 mm) long with PVC jacket rated to 221°F (105°C).
- Approvals: CE, CSA, and UR.
The switch enclosure is constructed of Nylon. The unit weighs 5.5 oz (0.16 kg). While the switch can be installed in any position, documented actuation/deactuation flow rates are based on horizontal pipe runs and represent nominal values.
Key Product Differences
The series is identified by specific model codes reflecting body material and connection type:
- V10: Brass body with NPT connection.
- V10SS: 303 SS body with NPT connection.
- V10-BSP: Brass body with BSPT connection.
- V10SS-BSP: 303 SS body with BSPT connection.
All models support field adjustment between normally open and normally closed switch configurations. The vane is trimmable to adjust the set point. Note that mechanical shock or vibration can cause permanent damage to the reed switch, and inductive, capacitive, or lamp loads may require protection circuit solutions.
