Supported Applications

The Omega TLC and KTLC series are over-the-side immersion heaters designed specifically for clean water applications with a pH range of 6 to 8. These lightweight, portable units provide convenient heating solutions where direct tank access is available.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates at power levels ranging from 2 kW to 18 kW. Electrical supply options include 120V, 240V, and 480V in both single-phase (1 phase) and three-phase (3 phase) configurations. The heating elements utilize a copper sheath with a surface loading of 40 W/in².

Physical dimensions vary by wattage and element configuration:

  • Riser Lengths: Available in 91 cm (36 in) or 121 cm (48 in).
  • Minimum Tank Clearance: Ranges from 27 cm (10⅝ in) for lower wattage models up to 133 cm (52½ in) for higher capacity units.
  • Weight: Units weigh between 7 lb (3 kg) and 18 lb (8 kg).

Configuration Options

The series offers two distinct element geometries to accommodate different installation requirements. The TLC Series features straight heating elements, while the KTLC Series utilizes curved heating elements.

  • Element Configuration: Models are available with either two or three heating elements.
  • Voltage Designation: To specify voltage in model numbers, insert “-240V” for 240V or “-480V” for 480V. For example: TLC-220A-036/120.
  • Phase Configuration: Add the suffix “3P” to the model number for three-phase power (e.g., KTLC-330A-036/480V/3P).

The heaters feature a Monel riser and junction box with an electrical connection via terminal box. Optional thermostat kits are available online to fit into the heater terminal box.

Key Product Differences

Differences between series members are defined by element shape, power rating, and voltage configuration:

  • TLC Series (Straight Elements): Includes models such as TLC-210A-048/240V (two elements) and TLC-390A-036/480V/3P (three elements).
  • KTLC Series (Curved Elements): Provides the same power ratings with curved geometry, such as KTLC-210A-048/480V and KTLC-315A-048/240V.

The series carries SP and UL approvals. A caution note states that fire and electrical shock may result if products are used improperly or installed by non-qualified personnel.
