Supported Applications
The Omega TX91 and TX92 series are miniature, non-isolated temperature transmitters designed to mount directly in an OMEGA NB1 cast iron protection head. The TX91 models accept Thermocouple inputs (Types J, K, T, or E), while the TX92 models support RTD inputs (Pt100, 100 Ω, Pt 0.00385). These compact units convert sensor signals into a standardized output for process monitoring and control systems.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series delivers an accuracy of ±0.1% FS (includes effects of linearity, hysteresis and repeatability) referenced to the mV input. The ambient temperature range is -32 to 85°C (-25 to 185°F), with a storage temperature range of -65 to 90°C (-85 to 193°F). Measurement ranges vary by model code, spanning from -40 to 49 °C (-40 to 120 °F) up to -18 to 538 °C (0 to 1000 °F).
Power requirements are 11 to 44 Vdc; 24 Vdc recommended. The maximum loop resistance is calculated as Vs - 11 V / 0.020A. Zero and span adjustment ranges of ±25% allow for field calibration.
Key Specifications
- Output Signal: 4 to 20 mA DC (Thermocouple models' output proportional to mV output of T/C. Not linearized to temperature.)
- Housing Material: Metal Case with RFI shield and upscale break protection.
- Dimensions: 29 H x 45 mm D (1.125 x 1.75") (height includes terminal strip).
- Weight: 50 g (1.5 oz)
Configuration Options
The series is configured via a model number selection grid where the suffix indicates the sensor type and range code.
- TX91 Models: Thermocouple transmitters for Types J, K, T, or E. Range codes 2 through 6 correspond to specific temperature spans (e.g., Code 2: -18 to 93 °C; Code 6: -18 to 538 °C).
- TX92 Models: RTD transmitters for Pt100 sensors. Range codes 1 through 6 cover spans from -18 to 399 °C (Code 1) up to -18 to 538 °C (Code 6).
- Probe Assemblies: The series is available as complete assemblies including the NB1 thermocouple probe or PR-12 RTD probe. These feature a ¼" OD, ungrounded junction, and 304 SS sheath with an insertion length of 305 mm (12").
- Approvals: FM APPROVED; IS/I/1/ABCD; NI/I/2/ABCD. Made in USA with a 5 YEAR WARRANTY.
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between the TX91 and TX92 families is the input sensor technology: TX91 units are designed for thermocouple inputs, whereas TX92 units accept RTD (Pt100) signals. Both share identical physical dimensions, output characteristics, and environmental ratings.
Accessories
The series supports various mounting and power configurations:
- Power Supplies: Regulated options include PSR-24S (US plug, screw terminals), PSR-24L (stripped leads), and PSR-24L-230 (European plug). An unregulated PSU-93 is also available.
- Mounting: Options include the TX82B process loop-powered indicator, RT mounting track (1.2 m / 48"), TX90-BR bracket for the track, and TX90-DIN rail adaptor with RAIL-35-2 sections.
