Supported Applications
The Omega HANI Tank Temperature Sensor is a high-accuracy, non-invasive device designed to measure the temperature of fluids inside metal tanks without requiring cutting or drilling. The sensor mounts externally via bolt-on installation on metal tank surfaces and utilizes hybrid sensing technology for fluid temperature measurement.
- Non-invasive temperature monitoring in stainless steel and other metal tanks
- Applications involving water, water-based fluids, and others upon request
- Metal tanks with a diameter of 2 feet or larger
Operating Conditions & Performance
The HANI series operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 40 °C (32 to 104 °F) and measures process temperatures from -20 to 100 °C (-4 to 212 °F). Accuracy varies by tank material: ±0.5 °C (±0.9 °F) for stainless steel tanks and ±1.0 °C (±1.8 °F) for other metals.
Response time is specified as 5 seconds (t63) and 10 seconds (t90). The device carries an IP67 enclosure rating when mated with the connector. Power requirements are 8 V DC to 28 V DC loop powered, with a maximum load resistance calculated by R_max (Ω) = (V_supply - 8 V) / 0.24 A.
Approvals and Safety
- Certifications: CE, EMC, UKCA, 2014/30/EU, LVD 2014/35/EU class II product (low voltage 8 to 28 Vdc)
- Safety Note: Do not operate the equipment in flammable or explosive environments
Configuration Options
The series supports a configurable envelope for connectivity and mounting. The primary model HANI-B-TANK-M-MA features an M12 8-Pin connector supporting both analog and digital outputs.
- Output Signals: 4 to 20 mA loop powered analog output or Omega Link (digital) via integrated I2C interface
- Housing Materials: PA12, silicone rubber, nickel-plated brass, and stainless steel components
- Dimensions: 111.1 mm W x 65.9 mm L x 43.8 mm H (4.38 in W x 2.60 in L x 1.72 in H)
- Digital Connectivity Options: Omega Link Smart Interface and Gateway options enable data logging, plug-and-play device detection, and integration with IIoT systems
Accessories and Interfaces
The series is compatible with various accessories to extend connectivity or adapt wiring configurations. Available interface modules include USB (IF-001), RS485/Modbus (IF-002), and Wireless interfaces for North America (915 MHz) and Europe (868 MHz). Gateways such as the GW-001 series support wired Ethernet or wireless connections to up to 100 Omega Link Smart Sensors.
Key Product Differences
The HANI-B-TANK-M-MA is currently offered as a single model configuration within this series. The sensor distinguishes itself through its non-invasive mounting method, which eliminates contamination risk by not penetrating the tank wall. Accuracy performance differs based on the specific metal of the host tank (stainless steel versus other metals). Full digital functionality and calibration features require the use of Omega Link Smart Interface hardware and SYNC configuration software.
