The Omega EXGG-GX-PP-WIRE series provides Thermocouple Wire Duplex Extension Grade solutions designed as compensating extension wires for various thermocouple types. The series supports Type BX (Copper/Copper), CX (W5%Re/W26%Re), DX (W3%Re/W25%Re), and GX (W/W26%Re) configurations.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Performance limits vary by thermocouple type, insulation material, and conductor construction. Maximum operating temperatures range from 100°C to 871°C depending on the specific configuration:
- Type BX (Copper/Copper): Glass Braid, PFA, Polyvinyl, and FEP insulations are rated for a maximum of 212°F (100°C).
- Type CX (W5%Re/W26%Re): NexTel Ceramic insulation supports up to 1600°F (871°C), while Glass Braid is rated to 900°F (482°C).
- Type DX (W3%Re/W25%Re) and Type GX (W/W26%Re): Glass Braid insulation supports a maximum of 500°F (260°C).
The series is manufactured in the USA. Conductor types include Solid or stranded configurations such as "7 x 34" and "7 x 32." Nominal sizes vary by model, with dimensions provided in millimeters.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable options across insulation materials, AWG sizes, braid types, and overbraiding services. The general model number guide follows the format EXXX---.
- Thermocouple Types: BX, CX, DX, GX.
- Insulation Materials: Glass Braid, PFA, Polyvinyl, FEP, and NexTel Ceramic.
- Braid Variations (Ceramic): XC (standard braid), XT (tight braid), and XL (light duty braid).
- Overbraiding Options: OMEGA can overbraid any thermocouple wire with Inconel 600, 304 SS, or tinned copper to add durability and abrasion protection.
Note: Black color coding applies on EXGG wire. Some models feature color tracers on the jacket and conductors.

- Type BX Models: Available with Glass Braid (EXGG-B-20), PFA (EXTT-B-26S), Polyvinyl (EXPP-B-24, EXPP-B-24S), and FEP (EXFF-B-26S) insulations. Conductor types vary between Solid and stranded options.
- Type CX Models: Offered with NexTel Ceramic insulation in three braid densities: XC (standard), XT (tight), and XL (light duty). Glass Braid is also available for lower temperature applications.
