It continuously senses airflow through the face of a fume hood to ensure safe levels of fresh air are exhausting, utilizing a hot wire sensor capable of detecting very low flows common on these units.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series measures air velocity within an alarm range of 30-400 FPM (0.15-2.0 m/s) with an accuracy of face velocity ±10%. A fixed low air velocity alarm delay is set to 5 s. The unit operates in ambient temperatures from 55 to 86°F (13 to 30°C), while storage temperature limits are -40 to 150°F (-40 to 65°C). Power requirements include 15 VDC at 500 mA, with a 120 VAC, 60 Hz power transformer included.
Configuration Options
The Model 670 provides visual and audible status indication alongside configurable inputs for facility integration. Key capabilities include:
- Status Indication: Visual LEDs (Red: Alarm, Green: Normal) and an audible alarm with temporary or permanent horn silence options.
- Relay Output: Low air flow alarm relay rated for 5 A @ 250 VAC.
- Inputs: Relay input for night setback (2-wire, rated for 24 VDC usage) and sash high indication using a 2-wire micro switch or 3-wire proximity switch input (rated for 24 VDC usage).

The sensor should be positioned to see room pressure; ideal placement is 100mm back from sash glass and 100mm higher than normal sash opening height. Tube lengths exceeding 1 meter or smaller diameters may restrict airflow, causing instability or incorrect readings.
