Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series A6 Durable Pressure Switches are designed for extended duty applications involving air, motor oils, transmission oils, jet fuels, and similar hydrocarbon media. The series is explicitly not intended for water use.
- Air systems
- Motor oil monitoring
- Transmission oil circuits
- Jet fuel lines
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series A6 operates within a temperature range of -40 to 248°F (-40 to 120°C). The switches feature a polyimide film diaphragm and offer repeatability of ±10% of set point with a set point tolerance of ±15% of range. Pressure limits vary by the selected set-point range:
- Operating pressure: 150 psi (10.3 bar) for 0.5-24 psi set point ranges; 250 psi (17.2 bar) for 25 to 150 psi set point ranges.
- Proof pressure: 500 psi (34.5 bar).
- Burst pressure: 750 psi (51.7 bar) for 0.5-24 psi set point ranges; 1250 psi (86.2 bar) for 25-150 psi set-point ranges.
Electrical Ratings
The switches provide independent NO and NC contacts with the following ratings:
- Resistive: 15 A @ 6 VDC, 8 A @ 12 VDC, 4 A @ 24 VDC.
- Inductive: 1 A @ 120 VAC, 0.5 A @ 240 VAC.
Enclosure & Mounting
The unit is rated General purpose or with cover: IP65 - weatherproof. The switch can be installed in any position and requires no lubrication or periodic servicing.
Configuration Options
The series supports a wide range of set-point configurations, base materials, and optional enclosures to accommodate specific installation needs.
- Set Point Ranges: Available from 0.5 to 1 psi (0.03 to 0.07 bar) up to 91 to 150 psi (6.28 to 10.35 bar).
- Base Materials: Brass or 304 SS.
- Wetted Materials: Base: 304 SS; Diaphragm: Polyimide film.
- Process Connection: 1/4" NPT male (requires plumbing tape or compatible sealing agent).
- Electrical Connections: #8-32 screw terminals.
Optional Accessories
The series supports the following weatherproof options to achieve IP65 ratings:
- A-439: Weatherproof IP65 Cover.
- A-440: Weatherproof IP65 w/ Fly-wire holes.
Key Product Differences
The Series A6 is offered in two primary base material configurations, distinguished by the model number suffix:
- Brass Base Models (e.g., A6-151221): Feature a brass housing with polyimide film diaphragm.
- 304 SS Base Models (e.g., A6-153221): Feature a 304 stainless steel base material for enhanced corrosion resistance in compatible media.
All models include dual SPST contacts (one NO, one NC) that are independent from each other. The switches utilize a screw mechanism for simple set-point field adjustment and weigh 0.13 lb (0.06 kg). Note: The Series A6 is not field serviceable; units requiring repair must be returned to the manufacturer.
