Supported Applications

Dwyer Series SGY and SGZ are 2.5" industrial pressure gauges designed for monitoring vacuum in pneumatic conveying lines, positive pressure in compressed air headers, and corrosive ambient environments. The series features dual psi/bar (x100 kPa) scales to accommodate multiple unit requirements within a single instrument.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series SGY/SGZ delivers ±1.5% full-scale accuracy across measurement ranges from 30" Hg to 0 up to 0 to 1,000 psi. The gauges are constructed with a stainless steel housing (304 SS for the SGY series; 316 SS for the SGZ series) and feature wetted parts compatible with gases and liquids. Specific media compatibility includes excellent chemical resistance for the SGZ models utilizing 316 SS wetted parts, while SGY models utilize brass connections suitable for gas applications.

Physical dimensions are standardized at a diameter of 2-1/16" [52.50 mm] with an overall depth of 2-7/16" [62.00 mm]. The series supports ambient operating temperatures from -4 to 140°F (-20 to 60°C). Weight varies by configuration: bottom connection models weigh 4.9 oz (141 g), back connection models weigh 5.8 oz (164 g), and glycerin-filled units add an additional 3.7 oz (104 g).

Configuration Options

The series offers extensive configuration options to match specific installation requirements, including process connections, fill types, and accessory integrations.

  • Housing & Wetted Materials: SGY models feature a 304 SS housing with brass connectors; SGZ models utilize a 316 SS housing with 316L SS tubes and 316 SS connectors for enhanced corrosion resistance.
  • Process Connections: Available in 1/4" NPT bottom connection (code 22N) or 1/4" NPT back connection (code 42N).
  • Liquid Fill Option: Glycerin fill (-GF) is available to dampen vibration and protect the internal mechanism.
  • Breather Design: Series SGZ gauges include an easy-open breather plug on top, allowing liquid-filled units to relieve built-up internal pressure without removing or cutting a rubber grommet.

Optional accessories and services expand the utility of these instruments for specific operational needs:

  • A-445D: U-bracket mounting kit for 2.5" gauges.
  • A-499R, A-499Y, A-499G: Sliding color pointers available in red, yellow, and green to mark setpoints or limits on the dial face.
  • NISTCAL-PG1: NIST traceable calibration certificate option.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between model families lies in material composition and chemical compatibility. The SGY series is designated for general industrial use with brass connectors, while the SGZ series employs 316 SS wetted parts (tube and connector) to address corrosive media.

Model numbering follows a structured format: SGY/SGZ-D1-RANGE CODE-CONNECTION CODE. Range codes correspond directly to the measurement span, such as 03 for 0 to 30 psi or 12 for 0 to 1,000 psi. Connection codes differentiate between bottom (22N) and back (42N) mounting orientations.
