Supported Applications
The Omega FTB-630 Series consists of dry-register mechanical totalizers designed for the accurate, economical reading of high flows with low pressure loss. These turbine flow meters are specifically suited for remote totalizing and pacing electronic metering pumps in water treatment applications when equipped with magnetic pulse reed sensors.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within a maximum process temperature of 105° F (40° C) and supports pressures up to 200 psi (14 bar). Accuracy is defined by flow transition points: performance is +/-2% of reading above the transition point and +/-5% of reading below it. Flow ranges vary by size, with minimum flows starting at 2 GPM for the 2" model and maximum continuous capacities reaching 2200 GPM on the 8" unit.
Flow Ranges (GPM)
- 2": Minimum 2, Max. Continuous 132, Max. Intermittent 165; Transition at 16 GPM
- 3": Minimum 5.3, Max. Continuous 352, Max. Intermittent 440; Transition at 24 GPM
- 4": Minimum 8, Max. Continuous 528, Max. Intermittent 660; Transition at 40 GPM
- 6": Minimum 20, Max. Continuous 1320, Max. Intermittent 1650; Transition at 80 GPM
- 8": Minimum 33, Max. Continuous 2200, Max. Intermittent 2750; Transition at 140 GPM
Configuration Options
The FTB-630 Series is available in five nominal sizes: 2", 3", 4", 6", and 8". Each size features a cast iron body with an epoxy coating for protection, utilizing 150 lb. ANSI drilling flanges as the process connection. The internal mechanism includes a horizontal-axis turbine driving a vertical shaft magnetically coupled to a sealed register.
Materials of Construction
- Meter Body: Cast iron, epoxy coating
- Turbine: Plastic
- Turbine Shafts: Tungsten steel
- Bearings: Jewel
- Drive Magnet: Alnico
- Register Plate: ABS plastic
Electrical and Output Options
Meters can be configured with magnetic pulse reed sensors. The electrical connection is provided via a cable channel, supporting an output of 100 mA @ 24 Vac/dc for the Reed Switch option.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the series are distinguished by pipe size and the inclusion of electronic sensing. Models ending in "P" (e.g., FTB-632P, FTB-638P) indicate configurations equipped with a reed switch sensor for remote totalizing capabilities.
Pulse Rate Settings
Depending on the size and configuration, pulse rates vary. For example:
- 2" (50 mm): 10 or 100 pulses per unit volume
- 3" (80 mm): 100 or 1,000 pulses per unit volume
- 4" (100 mm): 100 or 1,000 pulses per unit volume
- 6" (150 mm): 100 or 1,000 pulses per unit volume
- 8" (200 mm): 1,000 or 10,000 pulses per unit volume
The series includes a tamper-evident seal to indicate unauthorized access. Replacement parts such as gaskets, reed switch sensors, and turbine inserts are available for maintenance.
