Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series S2 Surface Mount Temperature Sensor provides a cost-effective and reliable solution for surface contact temperature measurement. The series is designed for conditioned water pipes, low pressure steam lines, or refrigerant lines. It serves as a low-profile sensor that can be taped or strapped to the outside of a pipe, making it suitable for applications where immersion wells are not feasible. Documented uses include heating or cooling loop line temperature monitoring and HVAC systems.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series S2 operates within an ambient and process temperature range of -40 to 250°F (-40 to 120°C). The sensor probe features a diameter of 1/4" (6.3 mm) and an overall length of 1" (25 mm), constructed from 304 Stainless Steel.

Accuracy specifications vary by the selected temperature element:

• Platinum RTD: ±0.1% @ 32°F (0°C), alpha 385 per DIN 43760
• Thermistor: ±0.5°C interchangeable @ 77°F (25°C)

Configuration Options

The series supports multiple configuration options for wire length and sensor type, defined by the model number guide: S2 - <WIRE LENGTH> - <TEMPERATURE SENSOR>. Electrical connections utilize 22 AWG 7/30 Stranded Etched Teflon® wires.

Wire Length Options:

• 1: 2 ft cable
• 6: 6 ft cable
• 10: 10 ft cable
• 20: 20 ft cable

Temperature Sensor Options:

• A: 10K NTC (TIII)
• B: 10K NTC (TII)
• C: 3K NTC
• D: Pt 100 (Available in 2 ft cable only)
• E: Pt 1000
• F: 20K NTC

Key Product Differences

Variants within the Series S2 differ primarily by wire length and sensor element type. The model number suffix indicates these selections; for example, an "S2-1D" denotes a 2 ft cable with a Pt 100 sensor. A specific constraint applies to the Pt 100 option (code D), which is available only in the 2 ft cable configuration.
