Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series SSV-S consists of compact, general-service, two-way guide type solenoid valves designed for air, gas, water, and other liquid applications. These normally open (NO) valves are engineered to operate in any orientation. The series is specifically configured with stainless steel bodies and fluoroelastomer seals to handle compatible gases and liquids.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series SSV-S operates within an ambient temperature range of 32 to 149°F (0 to 65°C) and supports a maximum process temperature of 248°F (120°C). The solenoid enclosure provides protection against dust, oil seepage, and non-corrosive coolants with a NEMA 13 (IP54) rating. Pressure ratings vary by connection size: models with 1/8" to 1/4" connections are rated from 0 psi (0 bar) to 87 psi (6 bar), while sizes from 3/8" to 2" are rated from 7.3 psi (0.5 bar) to 116 psi (8 bar). The burst pressure is listed as 174 psi (12 bar).
Configuration Options
The series offers a wide range of valve sizes and flow capacities, with connection sizes from 1/8" to 2" NPT. Orifice diameters span from 3 mm to 50 mm depending on the model size. Wetted materials for the SSV-S stainless steel configuration include a 316 SS body, 304 SS spring, and Fluoroelastomer seal.
Electrical configurations are available with standard 110 VAC coils; optional voltages include 220 VAC. For 24 VDC applications, the factory should be consulted per Series SRC Solenoid Coils documentation. Power consumption for AC models (50/60 Hz) shows an inrush of 82 VA and holding power between 28–33 VA depending on frequency; DC coils consume 32 W.
Key configurable dimensions include:
- Connection Types: Female NPT (standard); female BSPP is available by adding -BSPP to the model number.
- Housing Material: Nylon enclosure for the solenoid coil.
- Electrical Connection: DIN terminals.
Key Product Differences
The Series SSV-S is distinguished from the broader family by its stainless steel construction (316 SS body) and fluoroelastomer seals, whereas other variants in the general series may utilize brass bodies with NBR seals. Model numbers follow the format SSV-F, where size codes correspond to specific orifice diameters and Cv values ranging from 0.25 (1/8"–1/4") up to 48 (2"). The series is not field serviceable; units requiring repair must be returned.
