Supported Applications

The Omega HDC00713 Series consists of Hi-Density Multi-Purpose cartridge heaters designed for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) applications. These units serve as a solution for thermal loop systems where specific use cartridge heater design challenges require dependable performance.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series features a standard 321 Stainless Steel sheath with an actual diameter of 0.621" ±0.002" (15.773 mm). Standard models support applications up to 565°C (1050°F) working temperature, with a maximum sheath temperature limit of 650°C (1200°F). Incoloy® 800 sheath material is available on special order for applications requiring temperatures up to 760°C (1400°F).

Standard electrical configurations include Type N termination with 254 mm (10") long leads. The series offers models rated at 120V and 240V, with the capability to operate on 480V systems.

Temperature Limits

  • Working Temperature: Applications up to 565°C (1050°F)
  • Maximum Sheath Temperature: 650°C (1200°F)
  • Incoloy® 800 Option: Available for applications up to 760°C (1400°F) on special order

Certifications and Approvals

  • U.L. Component Recognized
  • CSA Certified

Configuration Options

The HDC00713 Series provides a broad envelope of sheath lengths and wattages to accommodate diverse thermal requirements.

Dimensions and Wattage Envelope

  • Diameter: 5/8" (15.88 mm) Nominal; Actual 0.621" ±0.002" (15.773 mm)
  • Sheath Lengths: Standard lengths range from 25.4 cm (1") to 914.4 mm (36"). Specific cataloged sizes include increments such as 1¼", 1½", 2", up to 36".
  • Voltage Options: Models are available in 120V and 240V configurations; the series is noted as "480V Capable."
  • Wattage Range: Available wattages vary by length, with examples ranging from 50 W to over 3700 W depending on the specific model number and sheath size.

Sheath Materials

  • Standard: 321 Stainless Steel
  • Special Order: Incoloy® 800 (for elevated temperature applications)

Terminations and Leads

  • Standard Termination: Type N termination with 254 mm (10") long leads.
  • Customization: Other terminations are available; contact Omega for part numbers regarding modifications.

Model Number Construction

The series follows a model number guide format of HDC. For example, HDC00713 represents a specific configuration within the 5/8" diameter range.

Key Product Differences

Variations across the series are defined by sheath length and power rating. The catalog lists distinct model numbers for different combinations of voltage (120V vs. 240V) and wattage at each specific sheath length.

  • Length-Based Variants: Models range from short lengths such as 1¼" to extended lengths up to 36", with intermediate sizes including 5/8", 7½", 9¾", and others listed in the specification tables.
  • Voltage-Specific Part Numbers: Many sheath lengths have separate model numbers for 120V (e.g., HDC00713) versus 240V (e.g., HDC00715), though some configurations may only be available in one voltage rating.
  • Watt Density: Watt density varies by model, with values listed per square inch and per square centimeter corresponding to the specific length and wattage combination.
