Supported Applications

The Omega Sanitary Dial Thermometer series utilizes bi-metal sensing technology designed for direct insertion into sanitary process applications. These instruments are specified when a standard thermowell is not required or the process environment does not expose the sensor to pressure. The product overview identifies ideal use in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series offers multiple temperature ranges with specific graduation divisions as documented in the specification table:

  • Fahrenheit scales: -40 to 160°F (Div. 2°), 25 to 125°F** (Div. 1°), 0 to 200°F (Div. 2°), 0 to 250°F (Div. 2°), 50 to 300°F (Div. 2°), 50 to 500°F (Div. 5°), and 150 to 750°F (Div. 10°).
  • Celsius scales: -40 to 70°C (Div. 1°), 0 to 50°C** (Div. 1°), 0 to 100°C (Div. 1°), -20 to 120°C (Div. 1° or Div. 2°), 0 to 150°C (Div. 1°), 0 to 250°C (Div. 5°), and 50 to 400°C (Div. 5°).
  • Dual scales: -40 to 70°F, 25 to 125°F**, -5 to 50°C, 0 to 200°F, -10 to 90°C, 0 to 250°F, 50 to 300°F, 10 to 150°C, 50 to 500°F, and 70 to 400°C.

A footnote indicates that ranges marked with ** require a minimum stem length of 4". All wetted parts are constructed from 316/316L SS stainless steel.

Configuration Options

The series is configurable across dial size, mounting orientation, and process connection options to accommodate specific installation geometries.

  • Dial Sizes: 76 mm (3") or 127 mm (5").
  • Housing Styles & Mounting:
    • AA Series: 3" dial, back connected.
    • BB Series: 5" dial, back connected.
    • LL Series: 3" dial, adjustable angle.
    • JJ Series: 5" dial, adjustable angle.
  • Process Connection: 1½" Tri-Grip™ (Tri-Clamp® Compatible).
  • Stem Lengths: Standard lengths available from 2½ to 15", with specific options for 4, 6, 9, 12, and 15 inches.

Optional features include silicone filling (-SF), a polycarbonate window (-PY), an Ra20 max wetted finish (-R20), or a 3 point NIST calibration certificate (-NIST). The series supports RoHS compliance. Overall dimensions vary by series: AA and BB models measure 76 (3.0) or 127 (5.0) mm overall length, 50 (2.0) mm diameter, and 19 (0.75) mm depth; LL or JJ models measure 76 (3.0) or 127 (5.0) mm overall length, 78.7 (3.1) mm diameter, and 19 (0.75) mm depth.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes models by dial size prefix and mounting configuration:

  • AA-(*): 3" back-connected housing.
  • BB-(*): 5" back-connected housing.
  • LL-(*): 3" adjustable-angle housing.
  • JJ-(*): 5" adjustable-angle housing.

The model number guide follows the format: Model - Range - Stem Length - Options (example: AA-40-160F-2-1/2, BB-40-160F-4-SF). Users must specify the temperature range from the provided table and select a stem length of 2½, 4, 6, 9, 12, or 15".
