Supported Applications

The Dwyer Model 160G Averaging Air Flow Grid is a precision sensing instrument designed to measure face air velocity on grills, diffusers, registers, exhaust hoods, coils, filters, dampers, and similar restrictions. The device provides an average flow sensing area across its dimensions using 16 sensing points.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Model 160G operates within a measurement range of 1000 to 5000 FPM (5 to 25 m/s) with an accuracy of ±2% FS. The instrument is rated for temperature limits from -40 to 257°F (-40° to 125°C). It utilizes a K Factor of 0.84 and accepts air or compatible gases as the service media.

Key Performance Specifications

  • Measurement Range: 1000 to 5000 FPM (5 to 25 m/s)
  • Accuracy: ±2% FS
  • K Factor: 0.84
  • Temperature Limits: -40 to 257°F (-40° to 125°C)
  • Service Media: Air or compatible gases

Configuration Options

The Model 160G features a grid length and width of 16.5" with an extendable pole offering a maximum reach of approximately 48". A ball pivot joint and tightening nut allow the user to position the sensing grid at any angle in any direction.

Construction & Materials

  • Grid: Black polycarbonate
  • Ball Pivot Joint: AL, plastic
  • Handle: Aluminum
  • Standoffs: Aluminum with rubber bumpers (two sets: 1.25" (31.7 mm) and 2" (50.8 mm))
  • Tubing: Two 10' (3 m) lengths of silicone rubber, color coded to connect to integral barbed fittings
  • Process Connection: 1/8 to 1/4" ID tubing
  • Weight: 1.75 lb (0.79 kg)

Included Accessories & Approvals

  • The unit includes a separate UHH-C2 hard carrying case with foam cut-outs sized for the Model 160G and other instruments in the AQTI Air Quality Test Instruments line.
  • Agency Approvals: RoHS

Key Product Differences

The series is represented by a single configuration, SKU 160G. The instrument provides a differential pressure signal via the included tubing to be connected to a gage or manometer for conversion into velocity or flow readings.
