Description
OK Quality 2 channel calibrated unitWe bought this because it is calibrated. Seems susceptible to EMI. The HVAC system combined with other adjacent CE compliant test equipment cause this to fail the self test. Other thermometers and test equipment do not fail under the same conditions. It is good that it reports the errors, but it would be nice if it was more robust. Good tech support to identify EMI as the cause.

Meets my needsI still have a lot to learn about all the capabilities of this equipment, but it works for my calibration needs. I would like to see more documentation on the capabilities and how to use them. What I have seen thus far is a bit lacking for me. I haven't had the opportunity to play with it outside of performing my calibrations. However, it is great for my calibration needs

Impressive AccuracyI have purchased 3 of these over the past couple of years for training customers on properly performing SAT's and they work great. They are every bi as accurate as $2,000 calibrators we have used in the past and they handle a wide range of thermocouples.

Works, but not greatIt does produce a TC signal that is accurate and adjustable. There are 2 outputs, but they do not seem to be independent, they both put out the same signal. The temperature logging is kind of confusing and it is easy to get stuck in an unknown state. It also beeps very loudly each time you press a button.

Staff Mechanical EngineerSimple and straightforward usage with multiple thermocouple type input accepted.
Can I communicate with the unit through USB in my own program instead of the windows program. I am trying to use it under Mac so would like to open it as a serial port to control it. Is there any documents of Remote Programming Commands for the CL3515R?
Asked by: Apple
Hi Apple
We do have command protocol for the CL3515R. Please email Temp@omega.com to request copy.

Since most modern computers don't have disc drives, where can I download the software? I don't see it on the website.
Asked by: Some guy
Scroll to the bottom of the page. Under "Quick Links", there is a section called "Software". That will take you to Omega's web page containing all of their software. For this specific item, click on "Temperature", then find this model number on the FTP site.

Can this unit be used to calibrate heat controllers? I cannot see the receptacles or this information within the description.
Asked by: Shlock
Thank you for the inquiry. As long as the meter or controller is using the same thermocouple type as the controller, then the CL3515R can be used to verify the accuracy of the thermocouple reading.

I am having an issue getting the software to see the calibrator. When I plug it in and try to select a port it does not pull up an option to click anything. Any suggestions? Also is there any more information on how to calibrate than what's in the manual?

Please make sure you are selecting Run As Administrator to install the USB driver. Check the Device Manager to confirm the USB driver is correctly loaded and Windows assign a port number.

Does Omega offer a calibration/re-certification service for the CL3515R, and what is the suggested frequency of recalibration?
Asked by: CalibratorCL3515R
The CL3515R can be re-calibrated and it is recommended it be done once per year. This can be set up by the Customer Service group when you are ready to move forward.
