Supported Applications

The AS-062 Series is an acceleration sensor by Brüel & Kjaer Vibro, designed for measuring vibration acceleration on rotating machines. Documented applications include turbines, pumps, and compressors.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates based on the piezoelectric compression principle with an integrated amplifier that converts charge signals into usable voltage signals. The sensor features a stainless steel 1.4301 housing rated IP 66 / IP 67 per EN 60 529 and complies with EMC standard EN 61326-1.

Performance specifications include:

  • Sensitivity: 100 mV/g ± 5 % (at 80 Hz / 23±3°C), equivalent to 10,2 mV/m/s² ± 5 %.
  • Accuracy of Sensitivity: ± 5 % in the range 4 Hz ... 10 kHz; ±3 dB at 1.5 Hz and 13 kHz; ± 5 % across -50°C ... +120°C.
  • Resonant Frequency: > 20 kHz.
  • Directional Factor (80 Hz): ≤ 8 ... 10 %.
  • Strain Sensitivity: < 0,002 g / (μm/m).

The sensor supports an operating temperature range of -50 °C ... +125 °C and a storage temperature range (in original packaging) of -20 °C ... +70 °C. Overload capacity is rated for continuous 500 g, with shock resistance up to 5000 g in all directions.

Measurement Ranges

The measurement range varies by supply voltage (Ub):

  • ±80 g at Ub = +24 V...+30 V.
  • ±40 g at Ub = +20 V.
  • ±20 g at Ub = +18 V.

The open-circuit potential is +12,5 V ± 1,5 V across the operating temperature range of -50 °C ... +125 °C. The dynamic internal resistance of the output is ≤ 300 Ω in the working frequency range and approximately 2 kΩ at resonant frequency (with 1 Veff excitation and Ib = 4 mA).

Configuration Options

The AS-062 Series utilizes a constant current power supply of 4 mA (range: 2 mA ... max. 10 mA) with reverse polarity protection, alongside a voltage supply of +24 V DC (+18 V...+30 V), also polarized.

Mounting and Mechanical Interface

The sensor requires a force-fitting, contact-resonance-free, and rigid mounting on the measurement object. The series is delivered with threaded studs for installation:

Overall dimensions are 48 mm (length) x 25.2 mm (diameter). The sensor mass is approximately 130 g without the cable.

Cable and Electrical Connection

The electrical connection consists of a 2-conductor stranded + shielded cable with ETFE insulation, black outer jacket, and an outside diameter of 3.3 mm (±0.15 mm). The conductor cross-section is 0.14 mm² (7 x 0.16 mm).

Standard connecting cable lengths are typically available in 5 m, 10 m, or 20 m options. A protective conduit for the sensor line is optionally available for 5 m and 10 m cables.

  • EMC Compliance: EN 61326-1. Note: Electromagnetic interference per EN 61000-4-3 may influence the measurement value; a grounded steel protective conduit for the sensor line is recommended in such cases.
